El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Terrific golf course in Oro Valley
With the coronavirus situation, they handled it beautifully. .You have no contact with anyone. Pay on line or over the phone, drop your clubs off by the carts and drive your own cart. They space players far enough you aren't ever on the same hole as other players. The weather is beautiful and it felt safer than even going to a grocery store. Thank you for doing a great job!
Love this course
OV did great buying this golf course. It’s in really good shape. Pace of play is great.
Really enjoy playing there.
Lovely course and day in the midst of COVID-19
We had another lovely day. While maintaining required distances, out in fresh air and the course management made accommodations to restrict contact with personnel and course elements (sand trap takes, ball washers and flags).
Boro Boy
Course was in pretty good condition with the exception of a few greens, which were not horrible, but had some winter kill. Overall I was satisfied with the course and the value.
Great Day
Great challenge with course conditions excellent. Cool overcast day but loved the course
Splendid Day On Canada Course
Our hosts at El Conquistador took great care of us. We were able to get around the course in less than four hours on a Saturday during peak season, despite it being a very busy day. 70 degrees and brilliant sunshine, and we had a blast!
A Course That Requires Orienteering Skills
I got to play the Canada course for the first time with 2 snowbirds who had played it once before. The starter Bob was a wealth of knowledge about putting and strategy, but his key tip was to watch the signs carefully or we would end up lost. The course winds through a couple of neighborhoods, some more empty areas, past a strip mall and alongside and over some busy roads. The disjointed layout features a variety of holes with several elevation changes. Challenges abound on many holes and golfers need to favor or work the ball to specific areas. Conditions are pretty good, but a few greens had some wear from mowers. The good greens rolled true and at a decent speed, We played the round in 4:05, even though we had covered over 8 miles in our carts. I enjoyed myself at EC, but I could see where first timers might get discouraged by all that it throws at you. Give it a fair chance and you might very well like it.
Enjoyed The Canada Course
Played the Canada course and really enjoyed it. Greens are near perfect as are the fairways. Scenic course with great views. The back nine had a number of shorter holes but they were typically up hill so played much longer. Nice golf course for the money.
Nice scenic
Enjoyed the course
Nice fairways & greens
Nice natural scenery
Excellent Resort Course
Played the Canada course for the first time. Really nice. Fairways were in superb condition. Greens were good - a few rough spots around the outer perimeter of some greens. Bunkers were excellent. Layout was fun with each hole being unique. Unwalkable for anyone but a marathon runner. Fairways were not overly penal, but a bit narrow. if you are a big slicer or hooker, you’ll get beat up. Homes had enough set back, but 18 was a bit tight. Each day the members play one course, while John Q. Public plays the other course. Last week of cart path only due to over seeding. I will be back so long as I’m hitting it straight.
Fun Course but Not Top Condition
Lots of up and down holes. Greens were hairy and slower than I'm used to...lacked consistency and spotty grass condition at times. Really pay attention to cart path signs to next hole if your new to course. Lots of intersecting paths and tunnels to get across road. Be careful as tunnels had no mirrors to see traffic coming. Card has no hole pictures/course lyout so you can find a few surprises while playing. Overall a good time but course is in need of some TLC.
Good value
Very nice course for 50.00 pace of play was just under 4 hours on a Sunday
