El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Enjoyed The Canada Course
Played the Canada course and really enjoyed it. Greens are near perfect as are the fairways. Scenic course with great views. The back nine had a number of shorter holes but they were typically up hill so played much longer. Nice golf course for the money.
Nice scenic
Enjoyed the course
Nice fairways & greens
Nice natural scenery
Excellent Resort Course
Played the Canada course for the first time. Really nice. Fairways were in superb condition. Greens were good - a few rough spots around the outer perimeter of some greens. Bunkers were excellent. Layout was fun with each hole being unique. Unwalkable for anyone but a marathon runner. Fairways were not overly penal, but a bit narrow. if you are a big slicer or hooker, you’ll get beat up. Homes had enough set back, but 18 was a bit tight. Each day the members play one course, while John Q. Public plays the other course. Last week of cart path only due to over seeding. I will be back so long as I’m hitting it straight.
Fun Course but Not Top Condition
Lots of up and down holes. Greens were hairy and slower than I'm used to...lacked consistency and spotty grass condition at times. Really pay attention to cart path signs to next hole if your new to course. Lots of intersecting paths and tunnels to get across road. Be careful as tunnels had no mirrors to see traffic coming. Card has no hole pictures/course lyout so you can find a few surprises while playing. Overall a good time but course is in need of some TLC.
Good value
Very nice course for 50.00 pace of play was just under 4 hours on a Sunday
El conquistador
Tee off was at the exact time I booked.
Course fairways were a little beat up, but got to admit the course will be reseeded in a week or so.
Staff are super friendly and efficient here
I definitely will be coming back.
Great day, terrific courses
Played both courses and love them both. We’ve been coming here from Colorado for years and love being here from time to time. I hope the local politics doesn’t affect our returning here in the future.
Me from Corado
Nice Day Playing The Helmet
The pace of play was good for a holiday weekend. The course is in relatively good shape, but the greens were very furry and slow, and there is not enough sand in the bunkers. Given the time of year, all of that can be forgiven, because the La Canada course is so much fun...
Give El Conquistador a play...
Great course
Overall a great course, well maintained and fun. Friendly staff greeting you at bag drop, pyramids of range balls to loosen up, practice greens played exactly as the course greens. Played La Canada today and it had plenty of elevations changes and strategically placed bunkers. Will play again.
Canada Course Horrible Condition
I've played the Canada Course for years. Before Troon was hired it was typically in poor condition, but last couple of years Troon has improved it. However, played it yesterday for 1st time in months and greatly disappointed. Greens terrible, some had minimal grass, bumpy, every one putted differently and it wasn't die to aeration. Fairways spotty and pace of play had us wait on every shot. Backed up ever more on back 9. (Teed off about 10:00am.) Ended up quitting after 17 holes. Would not play this course again.
Thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you on your next round.
