El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
About
The Canada Course plays through forests of mesquite trees, offering a parkland atmosphere amongst a desert landscape. The natural terrain snakes through ravines and arroyos, providing several natural hazards. Considerable mounding, doglegs and elevation changes provide a varied layout, making club selection an important factor in addition to careful strategy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag. The course’s signature hole is the eighth hole, considered one of the toughest par 3s in Tucson. The hole requires players to drive the ball uphill along a narrow ridge between two Saguaro cacti, and canyons border the greens on both sides.

Typical of course condition Photo submitted by DARoyer on 03/29/2013
Ridiculous Ranger
We were put out as a 2-some on a busy Saturday. We were ok with this and did not play into
The group in front of us. On the 5th hole the ranger told
Us to slow down or he would have a backup
On hole 7. We never hit into this group
and played a 4 hour 45 minute round.
I am ok with a Ranger doing his job but this guy was rude and didn’t have the knowledge necessary to maintain pace of play. If two holes ahead of us are backed up it isn’t us.
Too Dry
Should not chaged fool price for that kind of quality … all the fareway where yellow
Summer Golf
Played as a single for a few holes and linked up with a 3 some. Pace of play was fine and there were sufficient water stations for the 104 degree day. The course played fine, but dry. More running shots than usual.
Good times
Course wasn’t in The best shape but I’m sure it because they are getting close to over seeding.
I will play again.
Nice Track
Nice course overall. Pace of play was initially slow until we jumped ahead of a slow foursome. After that, pace was great. Fairways & greens were in good shape for this time of year. There are several very long drives between holes so this course in not walkable.
Overall Great.
Overall it was a great experience. Course was very well maintained. Which is saying something considering the time of year. The only down side is the lack of a beverage cart on the course, and water should be available at at least every other hole. I will be making another tee time there soon.
More the same.
Unfortunately - the condition of the greens do vary here. Some times they are fine and others, like today the greens were very shaggy.
To the point where if you flew a 7 iron into the center of the green it was hard to find your ball mark. The putts did not roll true and it was very difficult to read the speed on any putt more than 10'. It makes scoring very challenging.
If you want to play a competivie round and try to score - I would not recommend this course because you don't know what you will get with the greens.
Course in good condition !
Was impressed by the new cart paths great update !!
Thank you for playing El Conquistador Golf Club. Every year during this time we must prep the golf courses for Rye overseeding. To do this, you must dry out the course and cut down the Bermuda grass for a successful overseed.
