Good Value
Dell Urich is a good easy course that is well maintained. Good value.
Course played slow. It needs a ranger to keep things moving.
fun to play I liked the 17 hole. The open course . I ALSO LIKED THE FLIGHT OF THE FIGHTER JETS OVER HEAD.
Good shape
The fairways and greens were in nice shape. But the pace was slow. Halfway through the back nine the foursome that had been ahead of us was gone, and there was a SIXsome in front of us.
Sub par, all city courses are.
Trashy and bunkers are in bad shape. There are trash all over the course. If you don't take care the course, people will throw trash where trash is.
Nicest city course!
I've golfed 3-4 city courses here in Tucson, so far this is by far the nicest and most well kept. I'll definitely play here again.
Great selection of holes, non were boring
The course was in better than average shape, greens were quite fast and pin placements made them tough to putt, they were, however, fair. Pace of play was excellent, just under four hours.
slow slow slow
very slow play no marshal seen . quit after 12 holes. ccurse is in average shape for this time of year.
It's sad to see what should be a great golf course in such poor condition
This is a great track in terrible shape.
The greens are patchy about 3/4 grass and the rest dirt the fairways the same. Our group was commenting on the terrible lies in the fairways and how lumpy the putting greens were.
It's hard to believe they want top dollar for this. It's a shame because I have played this course in pristene condition and it's a joy when it is in good shape.
Was able to walk the course.
I picked a day in between the rain. The starter called us up to the tee about 15 minutes early, so I didn't have time to warm up on the putting green. The driving range only takes exact bills for the machines, and no change machine, so I had to go back to the clubhouse for exact change. Course was in decent shape and the greens held shots very well. No one in front of us were repairing their divots on the greens. I was fixing 5 to 6 on every green. But thats what you get with a public course.
Great scenery & challenging dog legs
Greens old but mowed short enough to putt well. Fairways good but overwatered ins couple of places. Some crew challenging long par 4s and par 5s. Lots of dog legs. Mature trees border most holes
Great layout .
A challenging course . Love the view of the 17th par 3 . Exc short par 3 especially with a good wind blowing into the tee box, an xtra club or two for sure. The dormant Bermuda can certainly be a challenge to get out of at times so a must to stay on the fairways . Good lengthy par 4's in for seniors.
Hills, Hills , Hills
The course is full of hills, if you hit a wayward shot, watch out. Fairways in good shape.
Overall-course was in good condition
Tees and fairways were in great shape. Rough needed some attention as balls were difficult to find. Traps had sand in them and it was playable. Greens were very fast and a little bumpy.
good shape
course was in good condition for this time of year ,the one biggest problen was at least eight greens had pin placements in impossible spots . when putting the ball is supposed to come to rest somewhere within a four foot radius of hole not roll back twenty feet .very bad course management.made for very slow play.
Excellent course for the money.
Love this course. First time my buddy had played this course and he is still raving about it. Course was in very good shape considering the heat and lack of rainfall. Couple of greens were a little bumpy but that's to be expected during the summer months in Tucson. Highly recommend it, especially for those who can't play as often as they would like since it can be a forgiving course.
What a gem!
I have played Dell Urich several times. Every time I am on vacation and play this course I continue to enjoy the great balance of difficulty and playability. If you are a higher handicapper you should thoroughly enjoy this course as well. It is very fair but gives you plenty of challenge. Great value for the money that is for sure. It is in pretty good shape, although there are some rough spots, but you cannot go wrong. I would rather play this one then Randolph North as it has elevated fairways and greens, but you can still play out of the rough and the greens are fast and fair at the same time.
The course was in good shape
For a muni, the course was in good shape. We were the first t time so pace of play was not an issue. The golf cart needed to have its brake repaired, however.
Bad experience with the Ranger assigned to Del Urich on 12-8-2012
The Ranger assigned to Del Urich on Saturday 12-8-2012 for the morning/day was rude and confrontational. On the first hole not having seen the signs nor hearing that it was cart path only the Ranger came out to tell me that it was cart path only by saying "What do you think you are doing out here?" to which I asked what he was saying; his response was "This is cart path only you idiote."; I was in my cart alone so I was surprised to hear this from him; particularly being so blatant. So I explained that I didn't know that it was cart path only to which he stated that "It's only written all over the course you moron." I knew he was trying to incite me so I at that point I told him to leave.
Later during the round it was apparent that he was stalking me; this was not a good experience and I don't recommend city golf to anyone in Tucson given the amount of money spent here that type of treatment from the course employees is deplorable.
I plan on reporting this to the city of Tucson personally on the first business day of the week.
