good shape
course was in good condition for this time of year ,the one biggest problen was at least eight greens had pin placements in impossible spots . when putting the ball is supposed to come to rest somewhere within a four foot radius of hole not roll back twenty feet .very bad course management.made for very slow play.
Excellent course for the money.
Love this course. First time my buddy had played this course and he is still raving about it. Course was in very good shape considering the heat and lack of rainfall. Couple of greens were a little bumpy but that's to be expected during the summer months in Tucson. Highly recommend it, especially for those who can't play as often as they would like since it can be a forgiving course.
What a gem!
I have played Dell Urich several times. Every time I am on vacation and play this course I continue to enjoy the great balance of difficulty and playability. If you are a higher handicapper you should thoroughly enjoy this course as well. It is very fair but gives you plenty of challenge. Great value for the money that is for sure. It is in pretty good shape, although there are some rough spots, but you cannot go wrong. I would rather play this one then Randolph North as it has elevated fairways and greens, but you can still play out of the rough and the greens are fast and fair at the same time.
The course was in good shape
For a muni, the course was in good shape. We were the first t time so pace of play was not an issue. The golf cart needed to have its brake repaired, however.
Bad experience with the Ranger assigned to Del Urich on 12-8-2012
The Ranger assigned to Del Urich on Saturday 12-8-2012 for the morning/day was rude and confrontational. On the first hole not having seen the signs nor hearing that it was cart path only the Ranger came out to tell me that it was cart path only by saying "What do you think you are doing out here?" to which I asked what he was saying; his response was "This is cart path only you idiote."; I was in my cart alone so I was surprised to hear this from him; particularly being so blatant. So I explained that I didn't know that it was cart path only to which he stated that "It's only written all over the course you moron." I knew he was trying to incite me so I at that point I told him to leave.
Later during the round it was apparent that he was stalking me; this was not a good experience and I don't recommend city golf to anyone in Tucson given the amount of money spent here that type of treatment from the course employees is deplorable.
I plan on reporting this to the city of Tucson personally on the first business day of the week.
Randolph North is best shape in years--greens very fast
Played the North course and found it to be in the best shape it has been in years. The green are very fast and putted the first putt off the green--remembering how the course has been-nice suprise..fairways in good to better condition and rough can be very penal--it was fun
Still cart path only. Paid $32 on Golf Now. Any more is too much.
The course is very wet. Perhaps less water, with our warm conditions, would stimulate some growth and fill in the fairways and greens allowing for the 90 degree rule. A pull cart would probably result in the same amount of walking with cart path only.
Not bad for a city course.
Played with the in-laws who don't play much golf. This course was not over challenging so it was perfect. Greens were not very good. Played on Thanksgiving weekend so it was pretty busy and slow, which was to be expected on a holiday in AZ. Course had been recently over-seeded so the fairways were green and established.
36 hole class both sides unique
A bit slow but we were in no hurry. Greens are a little tricky as there is rarely a level spot. Greens were fast. We did have to play 90 degrees with carts; this slowed play.
Enjoyable course but 4 hours 50 minutes is too long....
I always enjoy Del Urich. It is well maintained...good greens.
The people who work at Del Urich are very good people...friendly, nice and a good sense of humor. Do not think it should be 4 hours and 50 minutes. For the money, it is not worth it if it is going to take this long. They should have a rebate or something if they don't manage the times....
Better than expected
Hearing all the bad news about Tucson City Golf lowered my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. Fairways were excellent and, although the greens were a bit thin, they rolled fast and true. The staff was attentive, pleasant and courteous. Well done, Tucson City Golf!
Average
The course is tree-lined. City course with good greens. City is conserving right now so it doesn't get the attention it deserves, but quite playabe none the less.
I couldn't make the squares move!! Anyway, it is a very nice City courase. It was well kept and in good condition for this time of the year.
This course is of medium difficulty. The course was ingood condition.
El Urich
The course is in a very good condition in spite of large volume of players seeking for a game in the Tucson during the seeding period.
A sure Mature Value!
Traditional Course with lots of character.
I used to live in Tucson and played this course a lot. This course is operated by the City of Tucson. The course I played was the North Course. Due to financial problems in golf course operations the course condition is not what I expected. In the 70's and 80's when I used to play the North, it was used as a Tour stop for the LPGA. It also was the home for the University of Arizona Mens and Womens Golf Teams. During these times the course was in prestine condition. It was heavily played by the community and known throughout the state. Today the layout is the same and fun to play. A real challenge from the back and middle tees. The course however was in okay shape with some bare spots in the fairways and a few weeds in some fairways. The greens a good. This city course has 36 holes. The North Course and the Del Urich course. The Urich course is not recommentded because of its condition the North is 30% better. The staff is well trained with lots of knowledge and TLC to all golfers. Rangers do a good job. The city owns four courses throughout Tucson. Two courses are causing a drain on finances and the city reviewing proposals regarding what to do to get out of the red. If a course or two is sold the North and Urich course will receive more funds for needed maintenance. When this happens, these courses will draw a crowd. They just need some care.
The course was in great shape. New grass through the fairways, and no bare spots on the greens.
The course is in great shape for the transition form summer to winter play.
very nice city courses
summer rates are great, winter rates are very high for what you get. Take ten dollars off the winter rate and you'll get twice as many players.
fun course with alot of different challanges
Fun Course, some holes are long but very playable, watch out for the coyote.
long course but the fairways are fairly open. slow pace of play is common on this course
pace of play is an issue . I haven't seen any marshals on the course and some of the walking golfers slow play. too many good courses in the area to spend 5 hours at randolph
great course
for a public course it was in a greaqt sharp, I enjoy playing there.
