Forty-Niner Country Club
About
Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

Missed opportunity
This is a lush, traditional tree lined course with terrific views of the mountains. The course design and layout are excellent and the staff is great. Below average course conditions, to include bunkers lacking sand and fairways featuring weeds, puts Forty Niner in the category of missed opportunity.
Great course
The course is in great condition bot the driving range is not. Crab grass, clumpy crab makes it difficult to practice.
Beautiful course
Booked a cheap price on golf now. The beverage cart was not running and fairways can be a little rough on the edges. Beautiful course. Highly recommend.
Decent for the price
At $12 for 18 holes, I can’t be but so harsh. I will however be honest. Mediocre conditions. Some greens are almost completely toast. Others are nearly perfect. Lots of dry spots with weeds growing in the fairway. Very tight course. Takes some skill. Staff is very kind and the amenities are great. Wonderful practice areas. Is you’re looking for a quick cheap round, this is your place. Playable but not spectacular by any means.
Great value
Great course, some very narrow fairways but flat and easy to walk.
hot and dry
the course should be fantastic after some monsoon rains
Will play again.
I have been trying out the smaller executive courses for family coming into town. Out of the four I have tried, this one is the one we’ll be playing when they come into town. It has a variety of pars, and enough room that if you’re a beginner, you’re not worried about hitting someone’s house. Pace of play was good. Had a couple groups slowing down play but not terrible. Value for the money is outstanding. Was able to capitalize on a hot deal, so that helped as well. Played as a single but grouped up with two other singles and now have new golf buddies to play with. This course is worth the try and finished 18 in under 4 hours; had plenty of time to run errands after. There are some spots that need to be touched up but all playable and the greens were in great shape for the most part.
