Forty-Niner Country Club
About
Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

Overseeding going well
Course in good shape. Cart path only right now. Greens were ok with a few of them needing a bit of work. Nice staff with Kenny and Jeff and the rest of the crew.
Giant spider on number 3 tee
Always Enjoy This Course
We would play here more often, but we live on the other side of town. I always have enjoyed the layout. The pace of play was a little slow, but that is not the fault of the course. They just opened after overseeding, but still enjoyable. Lastly, if we lived on this side of town and wanted a membership to a course, I would choose Forty Niner.
Dirt Tee Boxes
Bunkers haven’t seen a rake in weeks, greens are inconsistent and unwatered. Won’t be back.
Fun course
Professional and caring staff. Greens were in great shape tee boxes not so much
Holes were very interesting to play
Great
Great end of summer golf. It is a shame that it is time to re-seed.
What's going on at 49er?
Love to play out here. But to be honest it's a mess! I would say only the greens are in good shape. Fairways are very sketchy. Is there a water issue? Bunkers also need some sand in them. Half of them it's really hard to hit out of with little or no sand. Anyways hope some improvements take place soon. Fun course to play. But deffinitely bit off right now.
Starting to feel like home course.
Very well maintained. Great service and great people. My favorite course 😁 not always easy. I love the challenge of a great course and Club.
Friendly 49er
Lovely course, in very good condition for time of year. Such a friendly club - love receiving updates via email during the last couple of years when we couldn’t visit
Nice Layout, Miserable Conditioning
I've always enjoyed playing at 49er. it's a fun layout with plenty of variety and some challenging shotmaking. Unfortunately, current course conditions are so bad that I won't be back for a while. Several tee boxes were just weeds and bare dirt. There were a lot of decent spots in the fairways, but also a lot of dirt and weeds. The only saving grace was that the greens were actually in very good condition. The greenskeeper should be congratulated for the condition of the greens, but excoriated for the condition of the rest of the course. S/he has some work to do!
