No water on course?
We weren’t expecting the best course conditions but there was no water on the course at all. It was over 100 degrees and there wasn’t even a beverage cart?
Slowest pace of play
Ever was fine except that the back nine took 3 hours and no staff were there to speed it up. Unacceptable.
Not Bad.
First time playing this course. I only paid $20 for this 'City' course, so my expectations were not very high. From the White Tees it was long enough to be challanging. Recently the weather has been rough, and there was signs of storm damage that had not yet been completely cleaned up. Along with the additional storm work you could tell the maintenance staff has been over worked. Alot of the rough was very long and many times we had trouble finding our golf balls.
Overall the course layout is pretty straight forward - everything is right in front of you. The greens were a little shaggy but in pretty good shape. For $20 I got more than my monies worth. I would go back.
Thick grass
There's been plenty of rain and the grass is thick. Fairways don't roll and if you end up not on the fairway you will be in thick, deep rough grass. We could not find 3 balls even though we knew where they were hit (barely off the fairway) due to the extra thick grass. Hardly anyone on the course, probably due to the weather. If you can tolerate the heat, you will have the course to yourself.
Pace
Great pace of play, finished in 3 hours. Fairway grass was somewhat thick, been getting quite a bit of rain lately. Greens were slower than I thought they would be, but course was in good shape overall. Would recommend this city course.
Cut the grass
Usually a really really fun course but the grass was too high we lost a lot of balls on good shots that was unnecessary slowed everything down a little bit too cuz everybody's looking for balls
Areated Greens no warning
Paid full price, fairways were in horrible condition and greens were aerated. No warning from the pro shop. Paid FULL Price. Played last week. Course was in great condition before. Disappointing, as I would have played elsewhere.
Tucson gem
Great course for the value. Since it was a slow day the starter offered me to play the South course too When have you ever heard those words from a starter?! North course fairways were ok but greens were firm and fast. Bunkers were well maintained. South course was in better shape overall. Friendly staff. I needed to rent clubs and was shocked when the pro shop handed me a set of new Calloway Rogues! I rent often and never expected this.
Good Course - Slow Play
Played on a Thursday and was surprised by the slow pace of play. Calling a faster group through was obviously not a thing for the four ball holding the whole course up.
The course itself was in good condition and provided a good challenge. Overall great value for money.
City course
I would say this is the best city course that Tucson has to offer. Fairly good condition, busy but not crowded. Open fairways and lots of trees throughout the course = lots of shade, it does get hot in the desert. I play here frequently, the price is fair and it is a well taken care of facility.
