Crooked Tree Golf Course in Tucson has a traditional layout in a secluded, peaceful location with no homes around the course for miles. The golf course features player-friendly, generous fairways and small greens that are surrounded by ample chipping areas. Located in the Sonoran Desert, there are ironwoods, mesquites, and saguaros situated throughout, providing a beautiful landscape and a relaxing atmosphere. Grass Bunkers
Weather was perfect so I chose to walk. I was joined by Jerry S. from Montana. The course is transitioning away from bunkers to minimize maintenance; they are allowing long grass to be grown in the bunkers. It is just as challenging as sand as it's no guarantee what the lie may be. I did not play as well as expected, though I holed a 27' putt from 5' off the green on 18. I lost to the Course 4&3.

Better
The course definitely is better than before. Pace of play was very slow, 5 hour round teeing off around 11am. No Marshall, cart person. Greens still slow.

Crooked Tree
Conditions are getting better and better Greens are much improved. Still roll a bit slow but true. Bunker grass is a nice change.

Not a good course experience
This appeared on the surface to be a great spot the driving range and practice area is large and well kept and quite lush. It stops there the fairways have scattered bare ground patches every where. the greens are just grass fairways cut a little lower and the scenery expected in a dessert course just are not there. the only thing missing from the fields were the cows. when you can play other local courses for less money I do not understand why you would not. Regular rate at $50 is terrible

Much Better Than Past Years
Course is in much better shape than previous years. Fairways, tee boxes and greens are very nicely maintained. The only surprise was that it seems they are letting all sand traps fill in with grass. That's not a bad thing in Arizona since the sand tends to bake in the sun and then it's like hitting off of concrete. Good job maintenance crew!!

Interesting transition
Reseeded and good fairways, greens good but slow (still in early reseed so cut long). They’ve given up on the bunkers, grass in there, firm, they sight high maintenance. We will see…
Overall, fun, open, pretty nice day on the links.
Clubhouse still only open early, no real food, hope this is expanded. I played well, so happy

Crooked Tree
Course in great shape. Greens need to be cut down to improve speed. Very slow! Sand traps are being filled with grass.

What you’d expect but still not worth the price
You get what you expect for a public course in Tucson, less than great fairways, hard bunkers, inconsistent greens. But for around $10 more than other public courses in the area it’s just not worth it.

Price of play was not worth what condition the course was in. Knock it down to $20 and it would have been fine

Horrible!!!
Guess they’re getting the course ready for overseedding . Tell me before I pay 30 … greens are completely dry….horrible shape !! People should not be allowed to play !!!!!

Poor condition and slow play
Upon arrival being advised that the back nine at closing to play the front nine twice.
Course was going through overseeing which made play impossible.
Staff rather unbothered.

not worth the price
Crooked Tree golf course is in terrible condition for the price they charge. My foursome will not go back.

Can't get longer; make the greens smaller!
Quick, easy check in since I paid with GP+. Greens were a bit slow; and many had some disease around the fringes. This maybe from the course super attempting to make the greens smaller since it is not possible to make the course longer. fairways were in great shape, so I challenged myself to use the rough, which was is very good shape without being too punishing. The two of us in two carts played in 3 hours with a 1036 tee time. The course beat me 3&1.
