Crooked Tree Golf Course in Tucson has a traditional layout in a secluded, peaceful location with no homes around the course for miles. The golf course features player-friendly, generous fairways and small greens that are surrounded by ample chipping areas. Located in the Sonoran Desert, there are ironwoods, mesquites, and saguaros situated throughout, providing a beautiful landscape and a relaxing atmosphere. It is no wonder that Crooked Tree Golf Course is one of the most popular public golf courses in Arizona.

Busy on weekends
Great course and a,good value. Unlike most courses in the area in that it is not surrounded by homes. Love the park like setting. Also very flat andsomewhat easier to score on.But a 5 hour Saturday round at mid day.

Conditions good
Tees, fairways nicely reseeded. Bunkers reseeded as well (?) and given up on. Avoid!
Surprisingly good greens (hold and smooth). Relatively quick. Slower by end of day. 5 1/4 hour round….open hole in front of group we followed. Open hole in front of group in front of them (?)
No ranger, no drink cart, bar closes at 3:00.
Basic layout. Nice driving range. Prepare to be patient.
Good basic golf, can be had to be lower rate than competition.

Great shape
I have played this course for 12 years and this is the best shape I have found it. Fairways green and groomed and greens medium fast and held approach shot. Even the tees were easy to get a tee into. Nice job maintenance crew!

condition and value
The operator filled in almost all of the bunkers with grass as opposed to continuing with poorly maintained mostly dirt (not sand) bunkers. They are no longer considered hazards so you can ground your club. The grass is allowed to grow somewhat deep, and the edges are still raised, so they still provide some level of difficulty. The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. Crooked Tree was recently moved from Attractions and Tourism to the Parks & Recreation Dept., and this change has resulted in a much more presentable and stable facility. Still one of the best golf values in Tucson.

What a pleasant surprise. My first time playing this course and definitely would play again.
Tee boxes were ok, fairways and greens were all in premium shape. The scenery is spectacular, I think that's what surprised me the most. Beautiful once away from clubhouse and High school.
I play all around Tucson area and I gotta say the maintenance crew has done a FANTASTIC job .
I tip my hat to them. I was expecting an average course, I didn't expect the course to be so nice.

Poor pace
Pace of play was very poor. I was backed up over an hour. I could not play through the group in front because there were 4 groups in front of them that were playing very slow.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Surprised they let the sand traps become overgrown with grass. Prefer real sand. Otherwise the course was in good shape

Average golf
Slow greens. Not resort golf but okay public golf. Efficient staff.

I presume the course had winter over seeding. Greens were very slow. They are eliminating green side sand bunkers. I presume a cost saving action but it takes away from the golf experience.
Lots of practice facilities but I personally didn’t have time for them.
Overall average day. I didn’t expect 5 star golf.

Filling in the bunkers with grass is a joke. Changes so many holes. And the grass wasn’t even through the bunker. Looks more like el Rio
