Less Sand
Since it is difficult to maintain quality sand in the bunkers, this course has gradually allowed grass to grow in the green side bunkers.
At the time of play, the course was in great condition - Tee Grounds, Fairways, Greens.
We spoke to some staff, and they stated that it was going to be shaved the following week in order to be overseeded.
Best place for beginners
This course is as far as cost what you expect from public golf. It's not crazy priced and it's not super fancy. You get what you pay for..
HOWEVER. This is the most open golf course in Tucson. It's all very wide and least intimidating course in Tucson. I love taking my friends here who are just learning to golf. Not losing balls it's huge for confidence and it's the only place in the desert I have found where it's almost impossible to lose one. I couldn't imagine taking new players anywhere else. Not bad value. Solid experience
Poor greens, practice facilities and overpriced for current conditions
The greens have all but been same with the practice facilities! I suggest spending your hard earned dollars at a different course!
Course review
Greens were in pretty rough shape due to dead grass. Definitely have had some flooding issues in fairways due to monsoon rains. No water coolers available during play or beverage cart available. Little pricey for what you get.
Good course
Had a great morning round here. Really glad to see they’re leveling the tee box on #3, thank you!!
Poor amenities
On the course.. there was NO WATER...
NO WATER for drinking
NO WATER for ball washers.. in fact, there were no ball wash machines found.
NO beverage cart on course..
Surprised at conditions
The greens were in excellent condition for this time of year the fairways looked great as well.
Lack of Ranger on the course
The pace of play for 14 holes was VERY VERY slow. We had a group with 6 people in front of us and two threesomes in front of them. We had to wait at every hole with the group of 6 waiting on the t-box.
The pace was close to 6 hours until a man from the club house came and the flow accelerated, we ended playing in slightly above 5 hours.
The man from the club house indicated that this course did not have a course ranger. That is the problem. The temperature was 115oF and inforcing course management under these kind of heat should be unforced.
Greens were slow but in great condition, fairways at times were over watered and t-boxes often where not flat with the ball either below or above your feet. We payed $55/person with a cart. No ice was provided but could get it at the turn.
If the pace of play is improved it is a course playing for the money with holes a bit long but overall it is a forgiving course and thus you can have fun and take a few chances.
Grumpy Old Men
Won’t say much, it’s all already been said in previous comments. Check in was with the grumpiest and most flustered older guy - complaining about having to get beer for people (because the bar is closed). Course condition was fine all things considered. Round times are fine as long as you get out early in front of the foursomes playing 5+ hour rounds. Don’t worry there’s no Marshall in sight so if that’s your style, this is the place for you.
Fun
Got paired up with three great US armed forces folks.
