The Club at Starr Pass - Gambler/Pioneer

They just changed the names of all the different nines. Started on Palmer which was pretty much an executive par 34. Target golf, crowned greens. Really beautiful. Then the Gambler.. thought this nine was more "gimmicky" in terms of how you could get jumps from hitting the middle of the fairway and never playing there before very challenging approach shots, etc into elevated thin, crowned greens. The uphill par 5 has a longer layup area I was unaware of on the GPS unless you drive up to see it. The Pioneer was a more traditional championship players course where what you see is what you get besides one hole. Overall, it was a fun golf course in great condition but feel that even if you know it better you will get unfair bounces out of your control. Reminds me of Wolf Creek in Mesquite in that sense.. it's a fun play but not really a fair test.. luck comes into play way to much. I am a 6 handicap. Would play again because of the scenery but not to test my scoring, etc. Overall I would recommend but wouldn't want to play there all the time even if I had deep pockets...

I love this course and consider it my home course as I live about five minutes from the property. Today was my first time playing the course since they installed the new greens.

They are way too firm. I was able to hit about 11 greens today and only 3 held. Putting was near impossible because of lack of consistency. They need a lot of work. That being said the fringes were amazing.

It’s frustrating when you pay a premium price, hit the ball well all day, and aren’t rewarded for it because of conditions.

I was surprised as a semi private course, that the conditions were very dry …..

Thus course and all facilities are in pristine condition. Greens were fast but rolled perfectly. Stunning scenery.

Have played here before and always enjoyed the layout, course conditions and wildlife.

Our Threesome plays quickly and there was a special replay offer of 9 extra holes.

We played all 27 in 5;15! Great value and pace.

True desert golf - target specific golf that requires course knowledge and management. Wonderful layout for intermediate and advanced players

Played Palmer and Gambler.

Overall the course was in great condition, greens on Palmer were seeded with a different grass a year ago and are pretty much perfect.

Gambler greens were very firm and super fast but still very good.

Great views all around, comfortable carts.

Overall, excellent value for money.

Fun course. New greens very firm and a little bare. Very unresponsive to approach shots, mostly slower with putts. Offer to play all three nines for price of 18 hole reservation did not materialize because one nine had a group event.
