Length 6951 yards

Rating 73.7

The Club at Starr Pass offers 27 holes of championship golf that have been host to legends such as Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. One of these combinations is Coyote/Roadrunner. Coyote is the club's signature course and while the Roadrunner nine might be the shortest, it has plenty of elevation changes. Both golf courses are carved from the scenic Tucson Mountains, providing golfers with a diverse landscape that is abundant with jackrabbits, quail, and deer. In addition to the three nines, there is also a double-loaded driving range and a practice area with putting and chipping greens.

Great course conditions

Course was in great shape. We had a little issue with pace of play that was quickly handled once we made the staff aware. Had a fantastic plate of cantina nachos after the round! Great staff.

Starr Pass- no Marshalling pace was 3 hours on back 9 with no one one the courae

Had a foursome Friday afternoon on Starr Pass.

First nine was played by our foursome in 1 hour and 30 minutes without rushing.. Two players were single handicap and two were low double digits.

Once we turned the second nine we came upon a foursome with an additional 3-4 year old child chipping and putting on every hole. It was obvious that we were waiting on every shot but group didn’t offer for us to play through. Wasn’t worth confronting as you could tell they had no course etiquette. No marshalls as there was no one on the course. Two twosomes caught up with us on hole 3. Finished second nine in 3 hours after skipping the eighth hole and went to play the ninth. Pro shop closed when we finished and cart guys were no where to be seen, so I called the next morning and they said SORRY, should have called in from the course. I thought about that but also thought that might cause an escalation, considering the people we were playing behind. Turned a good experience into a bad one.

Starr Pass Summer

Starr Pass plays tough, regardless of what tees you play. The condition is almost always very good. It is in really great shape right now for early summer in Tucson.

Course in very good shape

Course was in really good shape, especially in June with 100 plus degree temperatures. Greens were soft and made ball marks consistently when I hit the greens. Just a really good course in good shape.

Second Run

Second time playing Rattler & Coyote: Our day was perfect, on the hot side but not enough to keep us off the course. Played with my daughter and two local Fire Fighters. Conditions were great and the wildlife was unbelievable…… saw deer, coyotes, hogs, lizards an assortment of birds and even a bobcat.

Staff was friendly, Carts provided GPS and even built in BlueTooth. Plenty of Water on the course.

Looking forward to my return!

Course Improvements

Course was in pretty good shape. Lots of work has been done to clean up edges on the fairways, which is a nice improvement. Pace of play was fast, tees & fairways in good shape. Greens recently sanded but still playable. Enjoyed my round & will definitely be back again soon.

Beautiful views

I love the natural beauty of this course. It rewards accuracy. If miss the fairway you will probably lose your ball. One bonus is that it’s pretty easy to putt from off the green. I play this course every time I’m in Tucson.

Lots of interesting holes and great views

None of the holes are boring. Every one has its own special feature. Be sure to know your distances because there are many forced carry’s. On some holes, if you miss the green your ball could roll 20 yards downhill. The fringes are cut short so I used my putter a lot from off the green. It was fun.

Tough course, great layout

Great views, lot’s of wildlife and a fun course with a lot of challenges if you are a double digit handicap. Pace of play was a little slow for my liking. Greens were punched/aerated not long prior to my round but still rolled pretty good.

Beautiful spot, disappointing greens and bunkers

Beautiful spot to play. Disappointed in the condition of the course. Greens had been aerated and the ball rolled poorly and inconsistently. (not mentioned on golfnow)

First round here this spring and was also disappointed that so much of the surrounding vegetation had been pared back (scalped actually), totally changing the look and feel of most of the holes. Understand that pace of play is important but not at the expense of the design and aesthetics.Bunkers had sand but also many rocks. Course not up to it's former self.
