The Club at Starr Pass - Gambler/Pioneer
About
The Club at Starr Pass offers 27 holes of championship golf that have been host to legends such as Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. One of these combinations is Coyote/Roadrunner. Coyote is the club's signature course and while the Roadrunner nine might be the shortest, it has plenty of elevation changes. Both golf courses are carved from the scenic Tucson Mountains, providing golfers with a diverse landscape that is abundant with jackrabbits, quail, and deer. In addition to the three nines, there is also a double-loaded driving range and a practice area with putting and chipping greens.

Even a While…
It’s been 20+ years since I last played this course. I forgot how challenging it is yet has outstanding views from home to hole. Need to return soon and redeem myself. I think that I focused more on the wildlife and views vice playing golf. Enjoy your round and the views!!!
Brutally Hot but Awesome Course
Had a great time on this course. Beautiful views. Greens in solid shape. Traps are so so. It’s Tucson, so this seems to be a thing out here which I have NEVER understood since moving here. Sand traps at almost every course I have played are awful. It’s more like packed dirt mixed with rocks. Not good on a golf club.
Besides that, this course is a must play. Love playing it in the summer because the green fees are half of what they are in the fall/spring.
I got paired with a really nice guy and we had a great time chasing the little white ball.
It’s a must play course if you’re in Tucson.
Rainy Round
I played in the afternoon and got greeted by a couple fast moving rainstorms about halfway through. It was a perfect way to cool off and keep on grinding. Golf course played great before and after the rains. Wish I could say the same for my game! Oh well, maybe next time— I will be back!
Great course
Course was in really good shape. Some dry spots in fairways but typical for summer in Tucson. Greens were very good and held when hit. I wasn’t in any bunkers ( probably a first) so didn’t get to test the sand. Would love to play the Coyote 9 (played Rattler/Roadrunner) but I was told it is only available to play as nine hole. Overall, Starr Pass is an excellent test of golf.
Not for the meek!
This course is challenging! It is however very well maintained. Views are spectacular. There are plenty of water stations. GPS carts are generous with how far they let you drive before they shut off and the yardage is the most accurate of any I've seen. I normally despise GPS carts. Very little flat area to hit from. So if you aren't a seasoned player this isn't the course for you. Not much shade so in summer months this is a very hot place to play. Brimming with wild life! Lots to see!
OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE
I just moved to Tucson. This has become my new favorite. I have nearly 10 top-name courses on my list to play before I settle on one or two. This will be a #1 or #2 for sure. I am not sure what the Oct-March per round cost will be, however, I will look for specials to save a few bucks. The BEST to Starr Pass Golf Club.
Spectacular
Starr Pass Championship Course is one of the finest Tucson golf venues.
Great round. Playing partner and myself each had an ace, how could the day be bad.
Absolutely amazing!
Views views views! Challenging course if you have trouble hitting the fairway but absolutely gorgeous on every single hole. A top notch course, would definitely play again if I was in the area.
Great greens
Had a really good day at Starr Pass… greens are in great shape and the wildlife is everywhere— really laid back professional staff as well. So go play it,, sure your gonna loses couple balls but it’s super rewarding when you hit those really good shots - cheers
Challenging and fun!
I enjoy playing at Starr Pass. The courses are challenging but playable and in very good condition. The staff was great from start to finish and I consider the early summer rates to be a great value (just play early!).
Challenging round of golf
Great condition course , smooth fast greens, fairways well watered. Mesmerizing views from every hole. Had the course to myself it seemed. Really well stocked pro shop, super friendly staff. Restaurant not open Monday and Tuesdays so I did not get to eat as planned. No substantial or healthy choices on snack cart either. I will certainly return to golf this course again.
