About

Type Resort

Length 6951 yards
Slope 141
Rating 73.7

The Club at Starr Pass offers 27 holes of championship golf that have been host to legends such as Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. One of these combinations is Coyote/Roadrunner. Coyote is the club's signature course and while the Roadrunner nine might be the shortest, it has plenty of elevation changes. Both golf courses are carved from the scenic Tucson Mountains, providing golfers with a diverse landscape that is abundant with jackrabbits, quail, and deer. In addition to the three nines, there is also a double-loaded driving range and a practice area with putting and chipping greens.

Gambler/Pioneer

Played Gambler/Pioneer, both are in great shape.

New greens are firm, but they roll true.

I played here about a year ago, course has improved.

Great except greens!

Great high end course managed by Troon but someone has dropped the ball on the greens. They were still green and putting fast but were hard as a rock. My first shot was on a par 3 straight at the flag with an eight iron (very high ball flight) landed well infront of flag and bounced 15 feet in air and stopped at very back of green (would have stopped dead on normal green). Later we were laughing at the sound of a golf club hitting the green; it would sound like hitting a steel drum - no ball marks being made. Confused why course management would let the greens get into this shape - greens were not like this last spring and before?

Otherwise love this course. Another minor complaint: why on earth would you, after changing up holes on the three nines to make it better for play, change the names of the nines (from good names to dumb names) and add to the confusion of changing holes from one nine to others?

Even the starter couldn’t explain which old names matched the new ones!

Won’t be back unless they fix greens back to the way they were. Too bad because it is otherwise a great course.

Nice course but rock hard greens

This is a beautiful course and fun to play. However they replace the greens this year and they are like landing on a concrete slab covered with grass. Hopefully they will soften up over time. In addition the cups looked like they had not been moved in a long time. Not sure why they are not being moved. It is nice to see they are investing in the course. The bunkers are the best I have played in Tucson. With the rate I paid I was still pleased. Just be aware of the greens. With the over seeding and softness on the fringes you can’t really bounce balls up eather

Nice experience

Had a great time. Course conditions were really good, although the Pioneer nine was restricted to cart path only. Somewhat muddy conditions due to recent heavy rains I’m guessing was the reason for cart path only, but the course was green! The staff was super friendly, from the pro shop, starter, cart staff, and beverage cart! Beautiful vistas!

Horrible experience

Made a tee time, drive 2 hours only to find out that one 9 was closed and the other had been recently overseeded. Would have been nice to know that in advance cause I would have played there. Their clubhouse staff could have cared less. No rain check offered- nothing. Wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone

Not fair

Paid over 70 to pay the same course twice ? Golfers need to be informed if you have enough to open up the whole course over seventy dollars way too much to pay for the same course.

Palmer Course

Never played this part of the Starr Pass, it was good, but the 4 man group was horrible. I understand we all have to learn, but using the tee time to start learning or practicing is unacceptable. There’s a time and place for everything, practicing for the first time on the course is not it. It took 2 1/2 hrs to just play 9 holes….

Only had 9 open

Wish when online booking they state they only have 9 holes open. Only when we checked in the young lady let us know we would be playing the 9 twice. Didn't care for that but we played it since we had scheduled it.
