The Club at Starr Pass offers 27 holes of championship golf that have been host to legends such as Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. One of these combinations is Coyote/Roadrunner. Coyote is the club's signature course and while the Roadrunner nine might be the shortest, it has plenty of elevation changes. Both golf courses are carved from the scenic Tucson Mountains, providing golfers with a diverse landscape that is abundant with jackrabbits, quail, and deer. In addition to the three nines, there is also a double-loaded driving range and a practice area with putting and chipping greens.

Beautiful course

Beautiful course in good winter condition. Challenging but not so much as to discourage high handicap woman. Pace was good on a Friday afternoon. Carts are very comfortable and had great GPS screens, ball cleaners, ice coolers. Starter very personable. Service in bar/restaurant was slow.

Course is a classic desert setting.

The course was well designed for the desert and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The scenery was amazing and the holes were challenging but forgiving. Good shots are rewarded. Overall, a great experience.

Bathtub Greens

Overall great experience. Second time playing Starr Pass. Great food in the restaurant. Guy at front didn’t say much, like I interrupted his day but the starter and the club attendants were very nice to us. Now the course itself is very well maintained. Extremely difficult track. Any off line shots and you’re looking double bogey or more. As seen in other reviews, yes the greens are concrete like, like the header of my review, like ‘putting at the bottom of a bathtub’ just barely tap it, and it runs 6-7 feet past. You’re already daunted by the layout so there should be some reward when you hit a good shot but instead no balls were holding the green when hit. I didn’t repair a single divot on the green all round long because there wasn’t any. That’s how hard the greens were, so just keep that in mind but otherwise we did have a great time and watch out for those Jumping Cactuses!!!

Starr Pass

The complex was Beautiful as always. My only issue is the greens were rock hard & crazy fast. Easily the hardest and fastest, I've seen in my 6 years of living in Tucson. Set up more for Pros than for Amateurs. I don't have the backspin that the pros do, so my ball wouldn't hold one green. That was very disappointing. I think it's going to be awhile before I venture back to Starr Pass. Many other great choices in Tucson area with much friendlier greens.

Starr

Great course layout. Tough course to score with very fast greens and plenty of trouble to find on the course. Many elevated greens with sand traps protecting the greens. Not many great landing areas around fast greens. Each hole has a unique layout with many elevation changes. Great view.

Gorgeous Course--So well maintained--Great food!

Starr Pass Golf Course is one of the best maintained courses we have played in Tucson, and it's a lot of fun to play. The food and cocktails at the grill right there at the golf course were first rate. We had a Manhattan cocktail, the smash burger with fries, and two unique desserts. Lovely evening. The grill stays open until 8 PM.

The greens were reseeded recently and need time to grow, played firm and fast.

Bunkers need to be done next, liners were showing and the sand was thin.

Definitely would play again… great track!

Every shot matters

This course is incredibly fun to play! You are challenged on every single shot to select the right location on ur risk reward meter. If you haven’t played it in a while go give it a run! The course is playing just AHSUM!! The new greens are firm and fast so maybe move up a tee box to shorten ur approach shots. Even spraying a few balls in the desert is ok,,, it’ll just give you a closer look at the occasional javelina or deer roaming the grounds.

Such a fun course!

Gambler/Pioneer

Played Gambler/Pioneer, both are in great shape.

New greens are firm, but they roll true.

I played here about a year ago, course has improved.

Great except greens!

Great high end course managed by Troon but someone has dropped the ball on the greens. They were still green and putting fast but were hard as a rock. My first shot was on a par 3 straight at the flag with an eight iron (very high ball flight) landed well infront of flag and bounced 15 feet in air and stopped at very back of green (would have stopped dead on normal green). Later we were laughing at the sound of a golf club hitting the green; it would sound like hitting a steel drum - no ball marks being made. Confused why course management would let the greens get into this shape - greens were not like this last spring and before?

Otherwise love this course. Another minor complaint: why on earth would you, after changing up holes on the three nines to make it better for play, change the names of the nines (from good names to dumb names) and add to the confusion of changing holes from one nine to others?

Even the starter couldn’t explain which old names matched the new ones!

Won’t be back unless they fix greens back to the way they were. Too bad because it is otherwise a great course.
