Chesapeake Golf Club sits tucked away in the idyllic village of Las Gaviotas, conveniently situated just 15 minutes from downtown Norfolk. Boasting some of the best greens in the Tidewater area, the club offers the amenities of a private club with the fees of a public golf course. The layout will challenge you with rolling fairways and tricky doglegs. Water hazards come into play frequently so be prepared for a few intimidating blind shots over water. Mature trees line the rolling fairways and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The manageable 6,278-yard length is approachable for beginners yet there are still holes that long hitters will enjoy. Chesapeake Golf Club is a course that will test your skills but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

The greens
Nothing Special
I was passing through Chesapeake VA and decided to get a round in since the course was 10 minutes away. I knew that the price was really affordable so I booked it.
As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for". I wasn't expecting a great course but this was underwhelming. The greens were not very well maintained, the fairways were not mowed and the rough was not very manicured.
If you have a few hours to kill without expectations it will do the job.
Too hot for 18
Temp was 102. Could only play 9. Thankful for the shade trees in many locations. Greens and rough were a bit long so they could prevent scorching. Overall a decent course
Fun course for a low price
Layout here has always been a little odd, but overall fun and great variety of hole types. Greens, tee boxes and bunkers were in great shape. Only downside was often finding myself in tall grass in the middle of some fairways, and the cart paths are nearly unusable.

Course is improving as the summer comes. Greens are still a bit rough but overall a good place to play
Do not play here
This course is officially a goat ranch. Tees times do not exist and there is no adult supervision. I was hoping to have at least one favorable thing to say about the course, but I cannot think of one other than location. Tee boxes are bad, Fairways are bad. Greens, traps, rough, layout, cart paths, pace of play, practice facilities -all well below average.
