18th Green at Queen's Harbour Photo submitted by mcstanley78 on 08/09/2013
Great course when you find a good price.
Have played here several times. I really like the course with exception to a few holes that just don't either fit my eye or are just too difficult. Hole #4 is probably the most challenging hole - problem is that the green slopes away from you so it's hard to hold any shot on the green - especially if you have to hit a mid iron into the green. The greens were rolling pretty fast. There were a few spots with some weeds on them, but overall they rolled well. I will have to say that the past few times I have played there, the pins seem to be in almost unfair positions on several greens - or at least Sunday tournament pins and I'm a 3 HDCP. The only frustrating thing about the round this day was there wasn't a starter, our crew started on time and by the fourth hole we were waiting on every shot with the group in front of us. But then on hole #9 a young kid in a cart who worked there proceeded to come to us after we played the hole and tell us to hurry up because we were slowing down play. I mentioned to him that it wasn't us, that we had been waiting on every hole since #4 and he went on. Found out after the round it was one of the starters who was off that day and was in the group that was in front of us. Guess the kid didn't want to tell him to hurry up. Our group was easy going, but any group that wouldn't have taken very kindly to being told to hurry up when they weren't the ones slowing down would have probably lost their temper. The kid could have easily gone to the holes in front of us and seen two groups on the same hole to realize that it wasn't us. And we had a 5-some pushing into us all day while we were waiting (and somehow blaming us for the slow play.). Honestly this is the first time I've played there without a starter.
Queens has been better
I used to be a member for years, and I’ve seen the course go through ups and downs with course quality, but I was shocked to see the current conditions. Tee boxes very rough, greens surprisingly brown and not grown in consistently, fairways with tons of unfilled divots and some bare spots, and a few fairways looked like the rough, which is quite rough. If you get a hot deal and have rewards codes, it’s worth it, if not I’d wait for conditions to improve.
Layout is a challenge but the greens are horrendous. I played last fall and in the spring and the greens were like concrete both times. If you mention it in the pro shop they play dumb about it.. Sad.
Great Local Course
Queens Harbor offers excellent golf experience at a reasonable price. Challenging enough and fun.
Staff makes it nice.
Love it!
One of my top three courses I play. Always on very good shape.
Great Round
The Queens Harbor Golf club is in excellent shape. The fairways are plush and the greens while lightly seeded, are in excellent shape and the ball runs true to line. I can't wait to see how much better this course will be in the late spring and summer!
Pace of play issues
Pace of play was awful 5:05 and the gentlemen driving totally unwilling or uninterested in addressing. Course was solid but round ruined by course ignoring pace of play
A day we'll spent!
Layout, conditions and staff excellent! Only complaint-kitchen closes at 3pm.
Nice course
The course was in good shape. Well maintained. Greens were hard, fast & smooth. Very windy.
