Atlantic Beach Country Club
Just a half-mile from the beach, Atlantic Beach Country Club (formerly known as Selve Marina Country Club) offers scenic seaside views but that also means every hole is subject to gusty ocean winds. The golf course has a traditional links-style layout with wide fairways and small, rolling greens. There are also some elevated greens.
This player-friendly golf course provides excellent short game practice. Atlantic Beach C. C's signature hole is the famous, par-5 18th where Jack Nicklaus recorded his first "double eagle" at the Greater Jacksonville Open in 1966. In addition to the golf course, Atlantic Beach Country Club also offers a driving range as well as practice, pitching, and putting greens for golfers to use.

Fun but Challenging
This course is a private course so the ratings pre 2015 are no longer valid. Updated and redesigned, the architect developed a course that plays fair if you are a better than intermediate golfer. The real challenge comes into play on the greens. Usually fast with no real fringe so learn how to bump and run if you do not have a perfect wedge. The staff is excellent, the condition is excellent, and the off course amenities are great. If you have a chance to play - enjoy!
North Florida Gem
This is one of the nicest courses I have ever played.
It was completly redone so many of these reviews are outdated. Incredible condition.
greens good, fairways all brown
The greens were in very good shape, however the fairways and rough must have been sprayed with Roundup. The course was very soggy and muddy.
Extremely poor shape
This course is in terrible shape. Yes, it is inexpensive to play here, but even for the price we paid, I woud not recommend this course to anyone in the current condition. It is just awful.
I am afraid that, if no money is invested to improve the quality, management will find herself unable to escape the downward spiral of this course and it will end up bankrupt and closed.
Worst Course ever its all dead
Don't book it. the course is totally dead and brown yet they do not disclose it in golfnow. They let it all die. Just greens are green. HORRIBLE CONDITIONS!!!!!
On November 1, 2013 this course will close for 10-12 months. Course will completely redone.
Good course for fun play.
This coure is in the middle of some changes, regardless still challenging but fun!
The course needs work
This course is closing the end of October for renovations and is going to be total redone and a private course.
Invest in a sprinkler SERIOUSLY!!!
The layout of the course is nice. Thats about the only positive thing I can say. They dont know what a sprinkler is. Course was dried out...even burned in areas. They could do a better job at mowing the course as well. Driving range is a joke! Spend a few extra dollars and go somewhere else until they renovate.
Beautiful layout sadly neglected
The layout of this course is fabulous and would be a great course if maintained well. It was sad to see such a beautiful course being neglected and run down. I guess the economics can't justify full maintenance. A real shame in this case. Would play again though because was fun to play in spite of the poor condition.
A lot of potential
Excellent layout and overall good value for the price. Book on golf now for the best rates. The course needs work and more yardage markers. The rough is patchy at best and the fairways are okay. The greens have been renovated and have a good feel to them. The only course in Jacksonville that you never get backed up on. It's almost always wide open. Again, if the course had more attention it could be a fantastic experience.
Course is not maintained
Please do not waste your money on this course. The course is closing in November and to be demolished and turned into a private country club. Fo ,this reason they have decided to not maintain the course. We only made it through nine holes before we quit. They had 3 of the front nine holes with temp greens in the middle of the fairway. The fairways, tee boxes, and rough are not maintained either. Not happy about golf now either. they did not post the condition of the course on the website before booking. We got stuck paying the price and not could not enjoy the day we were hoping for. I asked if they plan on fixing the course but they said they don't see it happening before closing in November. There are so many other courses in the area that are in far better shape and equal price.
Ready for remodeling
Selva Marina Country Club has a great golf tradition. Unfortunately the present golf course is in the last throes of its life before it's completely ripped out and replaced as part of a major renovation project. As such the course is currently getting little attention other than basic mowing. There are temporary greens on several holes of this once very nice course. Let's hope the revamped course will be much better when it opens in 2014-15. In the meantime, it's good for a practice round but that's about it.
Older course with a historic background
I was not told that there were 4 temporary greens prior to playing. The course overall wasn't too shabby. Just wish I had been prepared for the temp greens. Wouldn't want to pay more than I did until all greens are open.
Wait for the remodel.
Decent layout. Par 3's are challenging. Multiple temporary greens. Minimally maintained and could use an infusion of cash. Member I played with said course about to undergo remodel. Suggest waiting unless you're able to pay in the $20's.
The worst golf course in Jacksonville Florida.
Approximately two years ago Hampton Golf temporarily managed this course due to it's condition. It's the worst course that I've played in Jacksonville. Three intermediate greens with massive cups. Greens in terrible shape. Overgrowth around most water holes. The word from the staff is that they are planning to demolish the course at the end of the season and start over. Hopefully a new Greens Keeper is in the equation, because he/she can't manage a golf course!
2nd worst Course I've ever played
This course can not be described well enough in words..... It is getting ready for a re-vamp and they have stopped maintaining it to golf course standards. I am a 4 handicap and rarely am outside of the first cut of rough. I lost 1 ball in the fairway (saw it land, bounce and disappear.) and lost 3 balls in the rough (within 20 feet of what they called fairway.) The greens were green... that's about it. I brought my disappointment to the attention of the pro shop desk guy (don't know if it was the pro). He offered a $20 discount for my next round even though I told him I would Never be back. I said he could give me $20 worth of balls since I was tired of loosing $5 golf balls in his fairways. He could not, so I played on. There were groups on 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 that I drove past.(there was no need to waist my Sunday waiting to play those holes) I played 15-18 and promptly left...
I WILL NEVER PLAY THIS COURSE AGAIN. In my opinion, it is the 2nd worse course I have played in my 30 yrs of playing. Players BEWARE!!!!
Not a good value
The course was in very poor shape, especially for a Saturday morning. The fairways were very weedy and not mown. The rough was overgrown with weeds. Several of the greens were badly marked and looked as if plugs had been removed or inserted to try to get grass to grow on them again. 3 of the greens on the front nine were under repair and were moved temporarily to the fairway.
I've never played on a course that was in such bad shape. I walked off after the 8th hole and left. I had a Hot Deal at $25 as it looks like full price is $50. I'd struggle to pay $10 for this course.
Too many temporary greens, need to mow around and between fairways. Developer about to build new homes in middle of course.
Decent price for what it is, bring a couple extra balls even first cut along fairway is over a foot tall in some spots. Very nice people and great breeze from the coast.
This course is in terrible condition
This course is in such bad shape I stopped after the front nine. There are three temporary greens on the front, and honestly speaking they're not much worse than the real greens. Pretty much like mowing your backyard close and trying to putt on it. A complete waste of time and money.
