Was Worth It
Went down to Orlando/Tampa for the NFC wildcard game and golf.
I'm generally like to pay under $80/round and somewhat leery of paying over $150 for round a golf. Of the four disney courses, this one was worth it! Although it was windy and only in the 50's the weather was decent to enjoy the course which was in great condition (as mentioned by previous reviewers that played a week earlier). The locals members told me it does not get as much traffic from the disney guest and is more laid back (which was very true). I selected this course for the island green. If I'm going to pay over $150 a round, I want a memorable hole and excellent conditions. The GPS carts are always great and service was wonderful. Surprisingly the merch in the pro shop wasn't as expensive as the typical disney stuff.
Well worth it if you want to treat yourself. I did save $30 by booking the tee time directly through disney's tee time system. Sorry Golf Now. But the reviews on Golf Now are very helpful and accurate. I'm typically skeptical of reviews.
Disappointed for a Disney Course
I’m an 8 handicap and enjoy paying extra to have a nicely manicured golf course. Here is my review.
The proshop staff was nice and efficient. The Cart/Bag staff was friendly and helpful. I was surprised when I asked about the range they gave me a small basket with 12 balls approximately. Seemed a bit cheap. The range appeared to be under repair and you had to hit off mats. The mats were soaked and full of mud. Very messy. That would be a theme I felt about the whole course… messy. The starter David was very friendly and helpful. I forgot a club on a hole and he sent a staff member to retrieve it for me. The layout of the course is nice. Typical resort course, forgiving but challenging at the same time. The greens were average at best, very slow. I was expecting better. One green looked like it hadn’t been mowed in a week. Not sure why that one green was so shaggy. The entire course was damp and spongy. They did have a bit of rain overnight but I felt that wasn’t the reason. Overall I was disappointed as I was expecting a higher level of attention to detail for a Disney course. I have played the Palm and Magnolia in the past and LBV did not match up to them. I did get a $86 rate from GolfNow and glad I didn’t pay the usual rate of $150+. I wouldn’t go back unless I had a similar deal and even then I’m not sure I would recommend it. As a comparison I played Hawks Landing which was pristine from start to finish and has comparable pricing. I also played Mystic Dunes which also had comparable pricing and would recommend that over LBV. I also played Falcons Fire for considerable less and thought it compared more to LBV. Hope this helps.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course with a good layout. Greens seemed a bit on the slow side with good pin placement. Plenty of native wildlife around the course as well.
Christmas Tound
It was a good round of golf! Liked the course enough to say I would like to play it again but really kind of pricey (even for Disney)!
great Disney course
great greens moderately fast, good grass in fairways, moderately ample landing areas, good layout in the heart of Disney activities with boats carrying park visitors on canals throughout the course.
Amazing time
Great course w a lot of nice little Disney touchess, (Tee blocks, bunkers, drop areas)but at same time, not over the top. Both the course and hotel grounds we drove past were very scenic.
WDW Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Beautiful course and friendly staff at check in and starter.
Very disappointing experience as the course was running behind more than 25 minutes. We had to wait to play on nearly every hole.
Because the club mismanaged time and had us tee off 25 minutes after our scheduled tee time, we were not able to play the last two holes.
Given the cost to play this course, I have a difficult time recommending this course. Perhaps if you tee off in the morning and plan to wait each hole. The staff were indifferent to their poor time management.
No beverage cart and practice range is very small with only a few area to hit. Practice green in poor condition and course was very wet even though the area has had dry conditions.
Very disappointing experience.
