About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

Can't survive like this
I have no idea how this course ranks over 4 on Google and over 3 on most golf sites. It's a mess. Fairways are mostly weeds. Greens are very patchy, missing a lot of turf and inconsistent in speed. On most of the course, the rough is higher quality grass than the fairway and the green fringes are an embarrassment. I find it hard to believe they employ a greenskeeper. Visible gopher holes on many holes. It looks like one of those courses set up on a cheap housing development to draw in new home buyers which then gets left to rot and retreat to nature. This one is on its last legs and I predict will be shuttered soon.
Water
Area hasn’t had much water lately and the course is really in need of water.

Very forgiving course!
First time playing here, we got paired up with two lovely people Michael and Laura. The course was in good shape and the staff was friendly and very helpful! We will definitely play there again.

accommodating staff
Nice layout, extremely friendly staff in clubhouse, starter and course attendants. Nice practice facilities. Front 9 had some green bare spots, better on the back 9.. Overall a good experience.

First round of golf at Halifax in 2021
It was frustrating for us. After we played the 1st hole and came to the tee on hole #2 there were 3 people (man and 2 teens) who cut in front of us. We then waited on every hole, every shot on them, kids were not properly dressed, they used clubs from the same bag, they did not respect rule of cart path only on par 3's, they wrecked one of the carts driving it off the path into a tree rendering it immobile, they simply didn't belong on the course and shame on the pro shop for letting them even play, really ruined the golf round for us.

I really like Halifax Plantation, I have played there for years, the conditions are bad, the tee boxes are hit or miss mostly need to leveled and have grass, there are a few fairways with nice grass and the greens need a lot of work. the driving range is awful to my surprise they need grass!

S-L-O-W play and no ranger
Played several times Jan-Mar 21 and as of late March it is slow play. 5 hrs following multiple slow foursomes ruined a great day.

Well Worth a Visit
This course is just flat out FUN to play. The course is visually pleasing, and there are holes for both draw shots and fades. No water to speak of.
What I enjoy most of all is that the homes on the course are set back far enough to preserve a feeling of privacy..
They will be redoing the course, nine holes at a time, starting in May or June.. Can’t wait.
