Halifax Plantation
About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

Love this course
Course was in good shape and even though the fairways needed some grass to grow, I understand the spring transition soon to com which should fill in the sparse areas soon. Overall, the course was good and fun.
One negative was over crowded course. We were a foursome who played the course fairly quickly, even after allowing a threesome through early in the round. We kept up with them throughout our round but were pressed by two threesomes behind us. I think there was not enough starting time between the groups. Just my opinion. Thanks

Beautiful surroundings
Very nice staff and amenities. Fairways were in fair shape for this time of year. Greens not so much. Most all greens had several areas that need attending too. Overall though it was a good experience.

Over-Priced
Used to play this course and really enjoyed it. Now, it is way over-priced for the condition of the course. Played a few weeks ago and at least 4 of the greens were in atrocious condition.

MB transport
Staff were nice/ friendly. Food was good, but service a bit slow. Course was very disappointing, certainly not worthy of the 4 star rating. There greens were shaggy, bumpy and spotty and the fairways were the same. The layout was nice, I have a feeling at one time, a few years ago, it was a very nice golf course.

Covid carts
The course was in pretty good shape. Some of the tee boxes need some work along with some of the greens, they seem to have some kind of fungus. It is much better today than past playing time. The one negative I had was that you were forced to share a cart or pay $20 additional for a private cart. The general manager (who apparently is an expert on covid) said it was safe to ride with others because you are outdoors. I do like this course and have never had an issue with requesting a non-sharing cart. Something to think about next time I want to play here.

Nice folks, good course
With the weather being perfect, the course was packed.
Pace of play was quite slow until the group in front of us let us play through. Conditions were average at best. Fairways were okay, sparse grass in a lot of areas. Greens were okay, with quite a few areas needing attention. The folks that work there are very friendly, and were working hard being as busy as it was.

Played Halifax Plantation once or twice annually for the last 15-20 years. Seems like course conditions aren’t what they used to be. Fairways inconsistent, greens are a small step down graded from normal condition. Still a good course that needs a little TLC or additional maintenance budget. Carts in need of replacement. Mine died on 15 hole. Don’t let this course fall apart like others in the area (Indigo Lakes, Cypress Knoll, etc...). It’s too good of a layout to squander. Best of luck!
