Overcrowded
Yes, it was Labor Day so it can be crowded. Arrived for my 11am tee time and no carts were available. There were no shows before but we were not allowed to get a cart until 11am. We had to take a cart without GPS. Pro shop manager didn't seem to care. He felt this was a normal practice.
Tee times were booked 7 minutes apart so everything backed up quickly. It took 3 hours just to play the front nine. We quit after 12 holes and 4 hours.
My recommendation is to avoid this course on holidays.
Very Nice Course, Good Conditions Despite Recent Heavy Rains
Had not played Cypress Creek in many years but was enticed by the “Hot Deal” special rate and positive recommendations from several friends. Played a mid-week, late morning round on a day following several afternoons of heavy downpours. Found the course to be in surprisingly good shape. Greens were decent but there were rough patches on several which required moving your ball a foot or two left or right to get a true putt. Nice layout, with fairway width and green sizes appropriate for hole length. Look forward to coming back and can recommend this course.
The Creek
Great course. Heck of a deal. Golf here once a month and it’s always a great round. Great staff. Will be back next month
Need a ranger to keep the pace
There was no ranger keeping the pace. It took 2 hrs just to get thru the front 9. That forced us to stop early due to the fact that when we started hole 11 there were 4 groups ahead of us all waiting to continue the play. Some of those groups told us they were leaving and we ended up only playing 13 holes and then left ourselves. That’s very frustrating and a waste of money
Tee boxes are awful. Fairways very wet from overwatering. Hopefully conditions will be better in a month or so.
Water... lots of water!
This course was somewhat challenging, but we loved it. Great layout! The water was everywhere, even where it wasn't supposed to be but, hey, Florida in August. I believe this was the 15th. There's even water behing the hill center fairway making it even more challenging and fun. We splashed one that was not retrievable unless you took off the shoes/socks :)
Cart path only?
Pace of play horrible
The pace of play was horrendous. It took us nearly 3 hours to play the front 9. We began some 30 mins after our tee time. I don’t understand this.
Thanks for fixing the range - new sod! Need to fix the blue T-boxes - needs turf!
Impressive
I was impressed with the overall condition of the course. Tee and fairways were in good condition. There was some standing water in some areas but didn’t effect play. I only remember one green (16) that had some bare or thin spots. Greens had been aerated recently. They were a little bumpy and probably need another week to recover. The course is fun and challenging. I will be back.
Not worth the premium price
I get Cypress is under new management with a vision but I’d recommend a few more capital improvements before price hikes. Driving range update is awesome, so increase prices there perhaps. Cart paths are busted and so are many tee boxes. Greens are getting better since I last played.
Practice areas are much improved. New putting green and new chipping area. Fairways and greens are in very nice condition. Greens are grainy but smooth. Many tee boxes are in poor shape, but didn't affect our game much (use a tee..!)
Restaurant has not yet reopened, but work is being done, so it looks like it will be open soon. Beverage cart came by several times.
