Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Great course! Will be back
I've driven by this place so many times and never knew it was there. A beautiful example of how pretty desert golf courses can be. It was really windy yesterday, but all in all had a really fun round. Was supposed to be paired up with a 3-some but Lisa said I could go ahead and play by myself if I wanted to, so I did. 18 holes is around 3 1/2 hours, and I took my time. Course is in great shape, I felt like the speed of the greens was a little inconsistent but other than that no complaints. Some challenging holes without being ridiculous target golf. Some elevation changes that added a bit of difficulty. Strong winds made some holes play extremely long. Staff was very pleasant, and the facilities are nice. I will be back soon to try out the Lakes course!
worth the ride
Course layout was great as was the condition. Mr. Fazio does it again.
always a great experience
It was a beautiful day, on an exceptional golf course. Great value on Golfnow. Always enjoy these courses, no throw away holes...each hole is extremely pleasing to the eye. A Tom Fazio trademark.
Primm Valley Desert
Great value from GolfNow. Round was completed in less than 4 hours. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Greens were recently aerated but were still very playable. Some fairways were a little beat up.
Great course
The course was very interesting and fun to play. The conditions were good and the staff was very friendly. The course is about 45 mins from the strip, but it is an easy drive and worth it for a great value. Would like to go back and play the Lakes course, which seems very different as the names of the courses tell the style. The course is in the middle of the desert so no homes or anything around besides desert and mountains. The only downside is that the views aren't as great as they could be because of a huge solar reflectors all over in the distance before the mountains. Otherwise would be amazing. The play was kind of slow, but I think it is also because I was a single for the first 7 holes, then a twosome after that. We played in 4 hours so it was fine, but it was on a Wednesday and after playing first 6 holes in 1 hour, was hoping for better.
It's a Must Do !!!!
Everytime I play the course I have a great time. The staff are great and try to help you in everyway. It's worth the drive.
Fun course
Drove down from Vegas to play primm. Was lots of fun and a real nice play. Played both courses and had a very good playing experience. Well worth the trip to get there. Headed to Vegas to golf? Add this to your list and have fun
Great course
I have played Primm for about 6 years now, it's always a great place to go.

We arrived early, staff met us at the bag drop, loaded our bags onto a cart, showed us where to go. The course was in great shape. Drink service on the course and she came around regularly. The greens were fast and predictable. Nice track and great value. I'll be back..
Gem in the desert
The course was in fine shape. The greens were smooth and the fairways lush.
The design is different on each hole so as to make you play all the shots. A fine test
A Desert Oasis.
Course was in great shape, lots of fun holes with great challenges.
Primm Valley Desert Course - Great!
Once again Primm did not disappoint. The layout is challenging enough. It was a very calm day. If the wind really blows, it can get VERY tough. Everyone there treats the golfers great. It's woth the drive from Las Vegas!
Great out of town course
Played the Desert course and the weather was perfect. Went out early and played in just over 3 hours with one other person. The conditions were good and they are keeping the fairways in great shape, but the greens were a little dry, yet putting was fine. Don't need too many extra balls as they don't have much water on the Desert course and the desert is open near the fairways.
Great Value if Discounted
I decided to give the desert course a go after playing the Lakes course 2 days prior. I am a 12 handicap and played the blue tees. I had read that the desert course is less busy, so it seemed a good choice on the way out of town. Unfortunately, I think others had the same idea and the desert course was busier than the lakes. Both rounds (Lakes on Friday and Desert on Sunday) were just over 5 hrs. I would not have been a happy camper if I had paid the full rate, but getting a decent discount on the green fee made the 5 hrs a little easier to swallow.
The course was fair but one could definitely benefit from some course knowledge. I found the greens difficult to read and being on the right level made a huge difference. Club selection is tricky on the par 3s with the elevation change and prevailing winds. There were a couple of chewed up areas in the fairway, but otherwise the course was in very playable condition. The Blues were 6400 some yards, but the longer holes were either from elevated tee boxes or with the prevailing wind. A really nice layout that made the course play much shorter than the yardage. If I had to choose between the 2 courses, I would choose the Lakes.
Worth the drive
This was our first time and will definitely return.
Course was in great shape and the staff was very friendly.
nice course
The T box and fairways are in good condition. Most of the fairways are wide and the greens are extremely fast- like putting on linoleum.
Great golfnow value
Great layout. Course was in great shape . No marshals and the pace was very slow.
