Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Very nice layout
Unfortunately, the fairways haven't recovered from their problems. Grass is nice and green but clumpy patches. We played preferred lies in fairway and all was good. Greens in very good shape. Well worth the drive. Staff very friendly.
Nice course on the way back to LA
Stopped by for a round on my way back to LA. I played lake yesterday. I think desert course is more interesting and a bitore challenging than lakes. Everything is pretty good except the POP. We were stuck behind a group of three some who had no idea how slow they were. By the 8th hole, the group in front of them already finished 11th ( the 11th green is next to 8th tee box). There was not marshal to police the pace. And the group in front didn't care and taking their sweet moments plumb bobing every put like it was Sunday after at the Masters. We finally fed up and skipped the 9th par 3, and jumped in front to finish back nine in 1.5 hours. The rough are yellow, but fairways and greens are all green which make a good contrast. A few bunkers need sands. I will play them again next time visiting Vegas...
Tough Greens
I enjoyed the course, I like the layouts and the design of the course. The greens were very tough, they were rolling fast, and the wind was really blowing. We played in just over 4 hours 10 minutes, I would definitely play again. There were a few brown spots due to the water issues that we are having.
Great for the price
For the price, this course is a steal. Worth the drive. Nice greens, fairways are grassy and each hole is a different. For $30..... its a deal.
Upscale in the middle of nowhere
Nice course and facility. Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. I played the Desert Course. Considering the water shortage in the area the course was in pretty good condition. It was a little windy so that made for some challenging shots. A few doglegs, elevation changes and some narrow fairways make it a good test. Greens were in good shape. If you are driving back to LA from Vegas, I would recommend that you leave early and stop here to play.
conditions
Course was not in that great of shape. Tee boxes and fairways need some help. Would suggest elsewhere in Lv with some many other choices.
Good golf for a fair price
Great track...nice condition. ...friendly staff. ..excellent greens...nice scenary
we really enjoyed this course
A beautiful and solid course - and in great condition
First and most important: pace of play. We finished in a bit over 4 hours. There were two of us, at least 2 groups ahead of us that we could see. Everyone moved along nicely until the last 3 holes. Not sure what happened, but I'm giving it a pass. There are plenty of places for wide hitters to get into trouble. We found 6 "unclaimed" balls on our fairways during our round - most likely overshots from adjacent holes (and yes, we left them there). Bunkers, water, doglegs, uphill, downhill - you can have it all. I'll go again.
Short sleeves in November
Everyone always talks about the Lakes course and it is beautiful. I prefer the Desert course. It is a little tougher and has a more rugged character. The day we were there the greens were great but the fairways had a couple of holes in the them. Not bad. Just a couple spots the overseed didn't fill in.
challenging but not overwhelming
Primm Valley Desert course was an entertaining golf outing which showcased a very reasonably priced course that was in very good condition at this time of year(early November).
Primm Valley Desert
What a great course. Both the Desert and Lakes courses are a pleasure to play. I have played them before and always enjoy them. I am always treated well, the course is always maintained, and it is always fun.
A perfect day!
The weather and scenery was spectacular! Course needs a little TLC ...Lost a lot a balls ...not the course's fault...nice and long. Always enjoy playing here...staff very friendly.
Played Well
I always seem to play well at Primm (77) as I played the Lakes Course earlier this month. The lay out and speed of the greens suit my game.
The staff are always extremely friendly and will look forward to playing there next month as the weekday hot deals are the best value especially if you have a promo code.
The solar panel sight always astonishes me!
Conditions have improved
I played out here during this past summer and the course was in poor/terrible shape pending on what you're used to. I told myself I wouldn't come back out for a long time but when you can find rates for $29-40 compared to other places it's hard not to give it a second try. The course is in far better shape then it was the past 6 months but still not in condition it once was. Hopefully they keep improving because this was one of the best courses for price in Vegas.
enjoyable round
this course have very courteous and helpful staff. the course is enjoyable to lay. great condition, no gimmic holes and good pace of play. Just over 4 hours
It was a very, very slow round and no course marshall!
We played the desert side and it just came out of overseeding and there were still several dead spots on the course especially in the fairways. Besides all the dead spots, the course looked nice and the greens were in good shape. The ball rolled nice and the greens were holding pretty good. They no longer have a course marshal and the pace of play was extremely slow and the course didn't do nothing to pick up the pace of play.
Nice Course
Not many layouts better than this. Beautiful. If you're visiting Vegas, this is a little out of the way, but worth the trip.
slow game
beautiful place in the desert of Las Vegas
Unfortunately, playing in front of us old men so we always had to wait
Fun Day out
Enjoyed the day...
Staff was great, weather was beautiful, and people I paired up with couldn't have been nicer!
Good golf facilities, friendly staff but course not in a pristine shape
Nice layout
Nice clubhouse
Friendly
Course was ok but still plenty of reparations spots
