Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

It’s a shame what MGM has allowed thie conditions of this course to sink to
It is a crying shame what the conditions of this course have become
I realize times are tough from the plannedemic but for crying out loud MGM if you are not going to give the courses the attention they deserve, please find someone who will
Having booked a tee time with a hot deal the rate was about $50 per
This was probably twice the value of what the course should be charging
Carts with course monitors that did not work
Almost impossible to find yardage markers
Weeds taking over the course
Bunkers that were penal not by intention but due to lack of basic maintenance
Greens that no one seemed to care about lifting marks and this was likely due so many of them having patches barren of grass
Cmon MGM step up and bring these courses back to the conditions they deserve to be in
Leo
The course has deteriorated in the last few years. But it's still a wonderful course to play I consider both courses at Primm in the top 10 in the Las Vegas area. I plan on returning a few more times this year
I'll go again
We really enjoyed the course. Driving range and a couple waters included was nice.
I feel bad for my rating because the greens were rough and, I Have no idea about the heat in the desert. It must me tough to maintain them. Lots of rough spots was all.
Everything else was great including the scenery.
Nice course
Beautiful course but the greens need to be redone.
Wintertime in Primm
Course is really cool, but the winter conditions are poor. Fairways hard and missing grass, greens mixed bag - with some bare patches. Still a fine public course.
Too many haters
This course deserves much better reviews. I don’t get it. It’s true that there are some rough areas unrelated to the actual playing surfaces; cart paths, restrooms, clubhouse, etc. However, this is one of the purest layouts I’ve ever played. The fairways are wide but there are obstacles. There are almost no unplayable lies on this course, which is a nice change from most of Vegas. The greens are oversized but tricky and not crazy fast. Just don’t get in the bunkers. I think this course has the bones for a PGA event, It just needs a little tlc. But for the size of the property, I think they do pretty good.
Great Experience
People were friendly, course was in very good condition. Worth the travel time, 50 mile drive to play it. Good value for the dollar. I will play it again as long as the value position remains in place.
Good times
Had a great time. Meet a regular to the course and it was a blast. Shout out to Pablo and Lisa whom asked if he could teen off with us.. Good times!
bad course
This had to be the worse course we have ever played. There was no upkeep on the course at all. Dead trees everywhere, Large bald spots in every fairway. It was a $25 course, not $48.
Fun day
Great course, played the desert layout, awesome fun
Great Design, Poor Conditions
Great design by Tom Fazio, 10 on a scale of 10.
Conditions = 3.
Fazio design is superb. Each hole a unique treat, full of character (sand/waste/water), elevation change, rolling terrain, elevated tee boxes and greens.
Locals I golfed with said conditions were worst they've ever seen. Like Primm letting the desert course go. Large bare spots in fairways. Some fairways have significant portions of brown grass (dormant?). No pattern to pin placements and no flag colors, so never sure if it's placed in front/mid/back. Some flagsticks missing their flag. Greens with lots of old ballmarks, and hoove prints from local animals. And plenty of dung piles all around from them.
Although the conditions are poor, it still can be played fine and I would recommend due to the excellent design. Would not pay top dollar for those conditions though.
