Bull Run Golf Club
About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Fall Review
One of my favorite courses in the area. Tee to green is in fantastic condition. Some bunkers need some TLC but the ones that attract the most shots are fair enough to play out of. I wouldn’t pay $120 for this course but the $80-$95 range is well worth it! Great fall course!
Incredible Course
One of the best in the area. Phenomenal challenge and even better conditions. Highly recommended!
Nice Course Even In The Rain
Two of us played Bull Run even though it was rainy but that’s what you do after a 40 minute drive. The tee boxes were very good, fairways draining nicely in the rain, greens rolled true & faster than expected.
The personnel in the pro shop were quiet as a mouse as two of them taking inventory and the pro working on the computer. No comment like “wow you guys are brave” . The least favorite was a 1990 gas golf cart that that belonged in a museum.
Rain rain
Finished. Greens were nice but slower. Due to rain the rough was 12 inches many places. People in front quit because probably could not find their balls and became frustrated. The fairways were like the first cut. Many fairways cut but grass left in fairways became clumpy and could not find out balls. If they going to to allow us to play then reduce cost of course in bad condition. I like the course as playing there for years but be honest with us before we tee off
Bull Run Rainy Round
As my first round at Bull Run was on a very rainy day but after driving 40 minutes we were eager to play. The front nine starts with a couple great holes helping you adjust your game. The course is a great layout and offered up both birdie and bogie opportunities. Tee boxes were very good, fairways very good, and greens rolled very true & faster than expected with three days of rain. ☔️
We had to shut down our game after nine holes as the rain went from a strong mist to steady light rain for the first 4 holes only then the rain changed to a diagonal direction with the wind picking up and finally hard rain on the last two holes.
I am very eager to go back with the partial rain check that was offered after asking. Personnel in the pro shop was doing inventory and as the only golfers on the course did not appreciate our strong desire to play golf.
My two issues were the unfriendly staff and an ancient gas coughing golf car that belongs in a museum for a $95 round in rural Virginia
Great course in great shape and great fun
Really enjoyed this course and it was in great shape with challenging holes and some unique challenges with balls above and below your feet with crazy fast greens.
Several holes with significant turf damage. Range is below par. Would give it another go; however current conditions bring questions of price to value for $100+ green fee.
Great Course
The course was one of the better courses I have played in the DMV area (only been here for 6 months, played about 10 courses). Course was in great condition. Played from the Blue tees. They allow walkers, that is fine, but took us 5-hours to finish, not so fine. Fairways were in great shape. Bunkers had sand. Greens were great, challenging. The collars of the greens were a bit rough/beat up which was the only negative on the course, but a small one. The putting green DID NOT match the course greens which cost me a 3-putt on the first hole for bogey (course was faster). Some fun holes that allow you risk/reward. Left about 7 strokes on the course, but shot a 77, so not too upset. Overall, I will definitely play there again, as long as the price is okay (it is expensive everywhere nowadays).
Great course
Great local course! The layout is beautiful as well as forgiving. With wide fairways, rural setting, and immaculately maintained from tees to green. It's been very dry and the course still looked full and beautiful. Visiting family from Florida and look forward to coming back and playing again.
