About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Golfer Reviews
Greens rolling great
Greens were I. The best shape in years always a fun experience.
Diamond in the rough
I really enjoyed my round. It is such a challenging course but gives a little. Wish it had some hot deals. Will look for discounts every week so I can play it again. Course in good shape and staff was great
Great Golf
Great golf course, starter and staff was very friendly , pace of play was slow because of cartpath only. There was a foursome in front of us that was very slow. Plan on playing again
Not Worth the Price
A friend recommended this course and unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. Course was in terrible shape considering the price. Compared to other courses priced in the same range and some even less expensive, this was not a good course. Crab grass growing all around the greens almost made them unplayable. Greens were very soft and seemed as though they had not been rolled in awhile. Spike marks and ball marks made for bumpy putting on all 18 holes. Course does not hold water well either. Had balls that plugged in the fairway. I will not play this course in the near future. Can't believe its part of the Raspberry Trail considering the other courses are not in this condition.
Bull Run = Excellent Golfing Experience
Played this course on a Saturday morning. I was a single and got teamed up with a threesome, who actually plays frequently. Bull Run is a great Course, we teed off at 7:21 and finished our round at 11:15. At times it felt like we were the only ones on the course but that's because of the layout. We never had to wait and we were not pushed from behind. The course itself was in great shape and it requires you to think about each shot. Greens were excellent and rolled true. I would highly recommend Bull Run to anyone, but I would also recommend getting an early tee time.
Brutally slow
Nice course, but the pace of play is always terrible. The last time you see anyone from management is when you pay. It seems they don't believe in marshals, you can do whatever you want once you tee off
great fun course
PGA member played with my son very enjoyable course. The course was in very good shape .
Great course
Great course, well maintained. We have had 8-10 inches of rain the week leading up to the round and the course was in surprisingly good shape. I have played the Bull Run a dozen times and have enjoyed every round. The course is difficult but not impossible, challenging enough to be enjoyable not frustrating!
Nice layout. Fairways and greens in excellent shape. Rained night before round, no standing water...except in traps. Some traps need to be redone. Look forward to playing in dry conditions to check green speeds.
Well rounded experience
From the excellent practice facility to the great course layout to the great conditions, we loved playing here. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Time will pass before I come back
Didn't want to just walk on, so I made a tee time for a single. Evidently, the threesome who I was paired with decided to bring a fourth golfer. So even though I made a tee time, It wasn't honored. The manager said they could change my tee time at their discretion. And by the way, they decided to tell me as MY foursome was teeing off. REALLY! Fortunately for me, a couple of foursomes later only showed up with three so off I went. Otherwise, I might still be standing there.
Nice Course!
This was my first time playing Bull Run. I found the course to be laid out well, with a good mix of challenging and easy holes. Even thought I played on January 1, the course was in good shape for winter play. My only complaint was slow play by one foursome that pushed the end of my round into twilight.
Thank you for sharing your experience. As you mentioned, the summer has been difficult at Bull Run with our recent heat and rain events Repairs to affected areas are underway and will continue into the fall. We look forward to seeing you again as we continue to bring conditions back to level that we expect at Bull Run.
