Bull Run Golf Club
About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

Great course
Bull Run made for a fine day golfing. I loved the course design and it was very well maintained. Fairways, greens and tees showed attention to care and the staff was fantastic. They paid attention to the course and pace of play without being intrusive and were always there to provide an answer or solution to a potential problem.
I personally found the $95 price tag for a weekend round a bit steep, particularly if you compare some of the prices during the week, but if other courses in the area are able to get away with $85 + (South Riding, 1757 etc) for $10 more this course blows them away. Probably won't play another weekend round at Bull Run (just can't afford that price) but will look to them first if I get one of those rare mid week vacation days.
Would Play Again!
Course is upscale, staff is very friendly and course conditions excellent (except looks like they lost the tee boxes on 18 to some blight).
Pace of play was acceptable, four hours 15 minutes on a Saturday afternoon is not bad.
I liked the layout of the course, challenging if your not in the fairway. Lots of trees, but not overly tight.
I will play this course again.

Bull Run Golf Course
The Course and facilities are great, the scenery is even better. Every single person on the staff is very friendly. It is a great place to play golf.
Options
The nice thing about this course is that several holes present risk reward options that make the round interesting and enjoyable. I like this course very much and look forward to playing it many times in the future, The weak point of the course is that the par threes are somewhat similar and could some variation in yardage and visually
Better course when repairs completed
Course is reasonably good shape except for the tee boxes that are under repair. Fairways and greens are well maintained. Driving range, chipping area, and putting greens are readily available for practice before/after your round. The club house staff are friendly and the food service excellent and reasonably priced. Will return.
Very fair, playable course.
I had only ever played here once before but was very pleased. The fairways and greens are in great condition. Just a few of the tee boxes haven't grown in yet but that was the only thing I could say that was less than great.
One of the better options in northern VA
Out of all of the options in Northern VA this ranks in my top 5. The course is always in good shape, which was not always the case a few years ago till Raspberry golf mgmt. took over. The course is challenging enough but very fair. I am a big fan of the overall layout and design of the course. The clubhouse is clean and well kept and the food options at the bar are pretty good. My favorite thing to do here is enjoy a beer and cigar after a round out on the upstairs patio that overlooks the 18th hole, it doesn't get much better than that. The pace of play usually moves along at a good pace which is often not the case in this area. The price is a bet steep but you can often find some good deals on golf now.
Good Course
Course was in good shape. The greens were rolling nice and the fairways were in good condition. Overall a great experience. I would def like to play here again.
Definitely one of the top courses in the Northern Virginia area
First time playing Bull Run because I got a good deal on Golfnow. I was very impressed with the course conditions despite an entire week of heavy rain. Bunkers were not in the best shape but that was probably due to the rain. Overall great course, facilities and service-oriented staff. I definitely want to go back!
Course is beautiful
Staff somewhat friendly. But not reliable. We were on pace to finish the round under 4 hours. But were told pace would pickup. But never seen Marshall the rest of the day
Bull Run Fun!
As always a great time at a beautiful course. Our 9am tee time was pretty soggy after very heavy rains the night before. We played cart path only, lift clean and place and took the flooded bunkers out of play. Most of the course was in great shape. The low spots were wet as expected. Greens in good shape. Overall we had a blast. Love this place. Will always be back for more.
great day
Good value through Golf Now. Very wet on the course but enjoyable. Pace of play was 4 1/2 hrs but not bad for cartpath only. Nice course.
Green speed
Fairway and green condition was excellent but green speed was not fast.
Play it!
The staff was especially impressive as they let me return a Christmas present purchased last November.Overall a very, very good experience.
I love this course!!!
I have played this course a few times now and absolutely love it! I could play the 18th hole all day and it would never get old. This course is in my top 5 in NOVA for sure.
Course is in great shape!
Bull run is looking as good as i have ever seen it. I play out there usually 3 -5 times a month. Pace of play was good only because we skipped holes 4-7 and then came back around and finished them after we played the back 9. My playing partner and I are good and finished our round in 2hrs and 40 min. But if we didn't skip those holes, we were probably looking at a 5 hr round thanks to a couple slow foursomes.
The overall course condition is fantastic! Fairways and greens look amazing. However, the tee boxes are a little shabby because they use a different type of grass than the rest of the course.
now this is "white-shoes" golf
Like Twin Lakes on energy-drinks.
Definitely a bluebloods' course, great grass, good greens, not too tricky or slow, and wide-open holes, for the most part. No blind shots. The courses' "defense" is a fair amount of water and waste-areas. Doesn't require a big stick but won't tolerate duffers very well. A good place to bring people to impress.
I wouldn't say it's the best in the area, but it's not bad, definitely. One of the better *courses* that I've played, but not one of the more difficult. Only the 18th was anything resembling a real challenge. The rest were classic technicians' holes. If you can hit and putt reasonably-well, you'll do fine. I'd say that this course is a good for players who enjoy a mildly-challenging round on a course that is not too flat or straight and does require some decent carries, and it's a good place to play for someone who wants to bring out their friends and family and have them experience "golf", and you'll enjoy the grass, scenery and amenities along the way.
Outing after deluge
We got to play after a significant rain storm. The bunkers were filled with standing water, and the sides were washed out. I cannot fault Bull Run for this, as we had just gotten a few inches of rain. I would certainly play this course again, and thing the facility was very nice. It was also cart path only, so decently placed shots were met with average to long walks.
The driving range was also closed, but they said it was due to the grass being cut, so we did not get to warm up before our round.
Some of the (what appear to be older) tee boxes were not in play, but not in good condition either.
Great
This course was in great shape aside from some bunkers. A few bunkers I noticed had little sand in them but others were okay.
