Bull Run Golf Club
About
Situated in the foothills of Bull Run Mountain, Bull Run Golf Club has a beautiful woodland setting that is conveniently located just minutes from many historic Civil War sites. The course plays through mature forests and across lush, grassy meadows. There are also several ponds that come into play throughout. The expansive layout covers over 450 acres, allowing plenty of room for the native flora and fauna. The risk-reward layout has plenty of challenges for more daring hitters but it also offers wide fairways that are molded to steer the ball towards the center. The landing areas are generous but they are often framed by grassy hollows, bunkers, or mature trees. Bull Run is challenging, but playable, which is why the club is considered one of the best golf courses in the D.C. area.

This golf course has a great view
I like the way the course is set up. It play some what challenge.
Perfect
Twilight time in June finishing right before dark. Simply beautiful course cut out of an awesome piece of land . Great condition and what I really liked about the course was the variety in the holes. Pace of play was good and excellent value with twilight rate.
Great Layout
plush, excellent condition
great layout
fun to play
challenging but can be beaten
course was in descent condition
The course is usually in good condition but this time there fairways were over grown. The rough was to thick and high. There were a lot of standing water in the bunkers.
The staff were very friendly except for the starter. There wasn't anyone teeing off after me for 20 min. He wouldn't let me start 10 minutes later.
great....
Play before days too many many raining. ...
But next day condition very very nice...
Great course for the price
Was a great course for the golf now price of $38. Course was in good condition with very true, fast greens. Course is advertised as wide open, but the rough is penal and their are some challenging holes. Pace of play was good and there was a very good chipping and putting area for a good warm-up. I was a little disappointed that the grass range was not available. Overall a very good course.
Beautiful course
Enjoyed playing the course for the first time. Has some great holes and was challenging yet still could shoot a great score.
Very nice greens
This course is in great shape and seems to be one of very few courses in the area where the greens are not full of airation holes and sand. Fun course to play but if it's your first time out its hard to see the shape if the hole from the tee box on a few of the holes. Overall a great course to play and the Marshal comes out and reminds people to keep the pace of play. I wish more courses would do this. I am sure we will be back for another round.
Firm & Fast
Bull Run is one of my favorites. They continue to rebound handily from the lost years (2008-2010?), and the layout will always be one of the best for those looking for a fair scoring opportunity in the 6500 yard range.
They seem to have a renewed emphasis on keeping the fairways and greens firm & fast, which seems to be more rare now days.
I look forward to golfing here year round, and target this course specifically when the temperature gets near 100° as the cross breezes make it bearable.
very enjoyable round
This a fine course we have played often. The course is coming into great shape. Greens still showing effects of aeration, but its spring after all. Will be really good soon. The staff is friendly and helpful - particularly with regard to staying ahead of potential slow play culprits. Finished in 3.5 hours on a Sunday!
Only knock is that grass tees on practice range were shot and the mats have a definite uphill slant.
Overall, well worth it. Always enjoy "bully"
Great weather
Had an hour long delay from frost and a backed up tourney but the weather made the day perfect. Course was in good shape greens were fast.
Good start to the season
Early in the season, which explains the less than ideal aeration marks on the greens. Tough to get a true roll on putts due to the aeration, but the course was in very good shape considering the winter it just dealt with. The greens should be very good in another week.
Cold and windy but what a course!!!
The course is a real beauty. Very representative of Northern, Va with the Civil War history related name, the beautiful hills in the distance, the rolling hills into which the course is built and the challenging water and wastebunker obstacles. I would recommend it to anyone. We got a heckuvadeal from GolfNow to play it in early March, the weather was windier than I would normally play and the grounder was muddier but the course is so nice, we had a great time anyways.
Bull Run ALways Pricey
I've always enjoyed playing at the Bull Run GC over the last ten years. The course is usually in good shape and offers some challenges from the Blue and Black Tees. However, my play would pick up at the course if the greens fees were more in line with the other courses in their caliber in No. VA. They ask premium fees for a course that is not a premium course. Lastly, I would be remise if I didn't mention that the staff, starter, cart boys, and restaurant staff have always been very friendly.
Nice course - good to walk or ride
I reserved as a single and the starter allowed me to begin on the back nine to avoid a large group on the front. My pace of play was <3 hours. Although it was early March and there were still areas with snow, the course was clean, maintained, and he course was in very good shape. I would definitely come back.
Great course and friendly staff
This course is very nice and I can see why a lot of my friends like to play there. I can see how playing there a few times can really help your score. I didn't know where the 18 green was and took the high side were if you played there before you would not hit were I did. I had to lay up were my friends went for the green. I can't wait to play it again!!!
Solid course
This course is generally in very good shape. Though they are still battling issues with a t box or fairway or two from the change in ownership a few years ago. But the greens are really nice and consistent. The course is fairly challenging. Beautiful track of land with virtually no homes. I think the prices are bit high -- especially in the off season months. They do a good job trying to keep the pace of play around 4 hours. But generally it is still 4.5 during busy times.
It is my second favorite course to play. Stonewall still holds the title.
Good round
The course layout is flat but strategic. This course is great for benchmark to measure up my skill. Will be back in order to make 70s again.
excellent greens
beautiful course layout. Excellent greens. Friendly personnel
Fun Course
The only negative thing I could say about this course is that you are unable to walk. It is both beautiful and cleverly designed. It has a great mix of challenging and forgiving and has one of my favorite finishing holes in the area.
