About
Named after the springs that snake through the layout, Delaware Springs Golf Course is a scenic links-style track that is one of the better values in Texas golf. The low prices and friendly service, combined with a picturesque and challenging golf course, make this a Hill Country favorite.
Architects Dave Axland and Dan Proctor built a natural-looking course that fits the terrain perfectly. The course is nestled into the rolling hills and oak trees along the Highland Lakes, playing 6,891 yards from the tips. During your round you’ll encounter lush fairways frequently loaded with bunkers, large greens that slope severely, and numerous bump and run shots. The designers added a few original touches, such as the descriptive Scottish names for each hole (the 18th is called "Hame" for the home hole).
Another interesting design twist involved placing the signature hole as the opener. Playing 504 yards to a par 5, no. 1 is best attacked with an iron into the left side of a sloping, tree-lined fairway. The creek cuts into the landing area, making it a testy tee shot. The second shot must bend around the dogleg to the left and over the creek, and the approach is into the green shaded by large trees on the right.

Great track - a little slow
Love this course. Some of the best greens in Austin area public courses. Also, never had a bad lie on the fairways which is pretty unusual for most public courses. Played on a Sunday and I think they must have overpacked the tee sheet, because it was super slow. Also played behind a group 7, which I don’t know how was allowed. Other than that, great experience.

Pace of play
There we numerous 5 and 6 person groups playing when it was already packed. Took 3 hours to get thru the front 9. Poor management of the pace of play by the course staff. Very frustrating

Course is very well taken care of
Very nice course. Greens, fairways and neighbors yards all had grass to hit from. Pace of play was ridiculous though. Waited 20 minutes or more just to tee off so you can imagine the pace of play the rest of the day. Would definitely go back though they were just extremely busy that day.

Good Course, however poor pace
Delaware Springs is a nice course and definitely worth the cost. The only issue I have with Delaware Springs is the slow pace on Sundays. I've run into this issue with pace 2 times in the last month. 18 holes should not take +5 hours forcing us to rush at the end and plead with the staff to let us play to 8:00 PM since they want carts in by 7:00 PM. Maybe the Marshall needs to be more forceful in monitoring and speeding up slow groups. Or maybe, keep the cart guys around a little later on busy days.
Besides poor pace, this is a good place to play.

Nice course, but.
We caught up to fivesome on 7th hole and then on number 10 it looked like a different group and we asked and were told theire were 2 fivesomes in front of them! We had to skip ahead from 10 to 13th hole and then finished our round by playing 13-15 again.

My favorite course
This is a fantastic course and my favorite in center Texas. I play it every chance I get. Some good holes and some challenging ones but overall a great experience. Well worth the one hour drive to me.

From tee boxes to fairways to greens every aspect was very nice with grass thickening as warmer weather approaches. My favorite course in the hill country.

Best bang for your buck
I have played Delaware springs for about a year now and this course is always in great condition. The only thing bad I can say about this course is the drive from Austin but it is worth it every time. Very challenging and fun track to play golf on.

Very green

Slow day
I have played here a lot over the past 6-7 years, and this past Sunday was far and away the slowest round ever. 2hours 45 minutes front side, about the same on the second nine, allowing fivesomes is a surefire way to slow down play in my opinion, as well as overbooking large groups playing very slow.
Really takes away from a nice course in good condition when it's this slow, I stay away from Austin courses on the weekends for that reason, never before expected a round like this at Delaware.
