About
Named after the springs that snake through the layout, Delaware Springs Golf Course is a scenic links-style track that is one of the better values in Texas golf. The low prices and friendly service, combined with a picturesque and challenging golf course, make this a Hill Country favorite.
Architects Dave Axland and Dan Proctor built a natural-looking course that fits the terrain perfectly. The course is nestled into the rolling hills and oak trees along the Highland Lakes, playing 6,891 yards from the tips. During your round you’ll encounter lush fairways frequently loaded with bunkers, large greens that slope severely, and numerous bump and run shots. The designers added a few original touches, such as the descriptive Scottish names for each hole (the 18th is called "Hame" for the home hole).
Another interesting design twist involved placing the signature hole as the opener. Playing 504 yards to a par 5, no. 1 is best attacked with an iron into the left side of a sloping, tree-lined fairway. The creek cuts into the landing area, making it a testy tee shot. The second shot must bend around the dogleg to the left and over the creek, and the approach is into the green shaded by large trees on the right.

Great afternoon
Played with my nephew (13), who is a beginner. The course layout gave him an opportunity to enjoy his round of golf. After finishing 18 he requested to try it again, so we will. The pro shop staff were great. Restaurant was great, so a win, win for Delaware Springs!

Bizarre

No pin and not much yardage info
Delaware spring was close until 5/1/20 due to covid19 and upon reopen, they increased their rate by a big margin (trying to make up for their closing time?). The course is in decent condition, green is a bit rough and bumpy. The main issue I have with the course is the fact that they don't have any tee box markets nor do they have any pin in place (instead, they put a range ball next to the hole). Most of the sprinkler heads does not have any yardage info as well. It is very difficult to play when there are no yardage or way to use your range finder. Most other course in the area have both pins and tee box market during covid19 and simply asking golfers to leave the pin in the hole (which is more than reasonable). Due to this reason, I would not recommend anyone else to play this course.

Good but No Markers or Flags
Course conditions were pretty nice on a nice day with some wind. Everything was fine except that there are no tee box markers or flags on the entire course. With the new flag in rule, I don't see why they wouldn't just leave flags in. Instead a partially cut range ball was set next to a hole. Of course, if the ball is in your line, you need to move it. A flag stick that stayed in would never need to be touched. This incentivizes actually all touching the same small area. And who touches or moves tee markers? We estimated around where a blue tee would likely be on every hole. Other than those oddities, a nice round.

Not difficult but you still have to focus.
Good course layout for the avg to above avg player. Many holes allow a good recovery shot and the rest require you to stay in the fairway if you want to hit the green in regulation. Very enjoyable round; thought the fairway’s condition could haves been better. Would I play here again? Yes.

Poor condo except for greens.
Fairly poor everywhere except for greens. Greens were very good overall.

Always fun to get back
Delaware Springs is just a little too far away for me to play regularly, but I'm always happy I make the one-hour drive from Austin. The course is a great example of a design that is fun but fairly minimal and playable for all abilities. It also seems to be a very community-oriented place with a wonderful vibe full of golfers of all ages and even a few dogs hanging out. The greens, as expected, were in great shape and they really promote creativity around the greens and on approach shots. I wish it was a little less spread out from green to tee so it would be more walkable. Besides that, you can't ask for much more in a muni. If you're like me, try and make the trip once a year to this country gem.

Hill country gem
I love to play Delaware springs. The course will make a great transition this spring. The greens are fast and true. The clubhouse has the best hamburgers anywhere and the price is affordable. I will make the one hour drive from Sun City any time I can.
