Delaware Springs Golf Course
About
Named after the springs that snake through the layout, Delaware Springs Golf Course is a scenic links-style track that is one of the better values in Texas golf. The low prices and friendly service, combined with a picturesque and challenging golf course, make this a Hill Country favorite.
Architects Dave Axland and Dan Proctor built a natural-looking course that fits the terrain perfectly. The course is nestled into the rolling hills and oak trees along the Highland Lakes, playing 6,891 yards from the tips. During your round you’ll encounter lush fairways frequently loaded with bunkers, large greens that slope severely, and numerous bump and run shots. The designers added a few original touches, such as the descriptive Scottish names for each hole (the 18th is called "Hame" for the home hole).
Another interesting design twist involved placing the signature hole as the opener. Playing 504 yards to a par 5, no. 1 is best attacked with an iron into the left side of a sloping, tree-lined fairway. The creek cuts into the landing area, making it a testy tee shot. The second shot must bend around the dogleg to the left and over the creek, and the approach is into the green shaded by large trees on the right.

Great hill country course that is fun to play
This course and facilities offer so much. I feel relaxed and at home here. I really enjoy the experience of playing golf in the hill country. The golf course is challenging and fair with a nice variety of scenic holes. The green fees are quite reasonable particularly considering the quality of the course. The course, including the greens, is typically in excellent condition. At times, the greens are fast. A few of the greens are particularly challenging due to slope and undulation. It's a good idea to respect the speed of the greens when you are above the hole. The bunkers have white powdery sand. There are some nice views of mesas in the distance on a few holes on the back nine. I like the practice facilities, too. It includes a driving range, short game practice area including a sand trap, and a separate putting green. A small bucket of balls is only $3. The restaurant and dining area are nice with an excellent selection of food, snacks, and refreshments. The dining area has large wooden tables and chairs. There is also an outdoor pavilion near the clubhouse. In addition, there are nice restrooms near the middle of each 9. Doug and his staff are really helpful and welcoming. The pro shop has a nice selection of equipment and accessories for very reasonable prices. Where else can you get a quality wedge at a discount and a chicken salad sandwich?
Great Course
Delaware Springs is always in great shape, Greens can be really challenging.
Great Course for a fun round
Delaware Springs is always in good shape, although it has a moderate slope rating it has it's challenges with sand, water and off fairway rough. My wife likes the course especially because for women it's shorter and affords an opportunity to shoot a good score.
Best Course in Hill Country
Doug and Tony alway's have this course in top condition. Love playing here.
Had a great time greens were a little bumpy fairways outstanding played in 4 1/2 hours could have been finished in about 4 but play was very slow overall outstanding value
One of Kind Experience
Definitely would recommend to anyone as a great course......
The great day of golf and deer watching
Good layout for golfers to use all the clubs in the bag
Fun round
Slowly recovering from an accident, but had a nice round on this day. Hope to get back to pre-wreck game again soon. Course was in good shape, greens were recently sanded and thus a little challenging to keep putts online.
AMAZINGLY PEACEFUL
I have been playing this Course now for about 10 yrs and consider it my home course. From the time you check into the clubhouse, you might have Jay, John, Blake, Bear or Mr. Phipps checking you in. They are all extremely professional, knowledgeable, charismatic, helpful and funny. They make you feel like family right away and the atmosphere feels like your exactly where you want and need to be for at least 4 hrs. After you head out to get in your cart, you feel the aura of just being in such a peaceful place as you head to the range to hit balls, chip on the putting green or just heading to the tee box. Regardless if your playing with friends or being paired up with someone they make you feel like they’ve known you for awhile and you feel the relaxation to just be yourself and not at a place that’s stuffy or not welcome. Not at Delaware Springs. It’s the place you will make life long friends and you’ll want to come back for the play as well as the great lunch specials that are a mouthful and filling. Playing each hole is a challenge but it’s also an experience that you’ll never forget. Sometimes and I mean only sometimes it might be a little slow but you know what I say is don’t go play golf anywhere if your having to be somewhere because this Course is so beautiful and you won’t be there no longer than 4 1/2 hrs and I love the environment as well as the people. The kitchen staff is so kind and I love them all. They all work so hard and are dedicated to each player, member or not.
If I was gonna make a suggestion to this course I would suggest that the Marshall’s be a little more friendly and stop and visit with the players if they can, treat all the players the same because members or not, your in the customer service field and it requires to treat everyone the same. And I speak from experience as both a Marshall & a Starter and I make it a point to go above and beyond by getting out of my cart, thanking every player for coming out regardless if they are a member or not. I like to get to know the repeat players where I volunteer at and it makes for a very fast but fun 5 hrs for me. I approach every group with leaving a great impression because I represent the Pro as well as the golf course and all it’s paid employees. I’d also ask that there be bottles of sand or sand at the range to be able to help the crew fill the divots before I leave the range. It would also be awesome to have benches to sit on at the range because some of old guys like to rest our bones even though we love the game.
But overall this place is a place of beauty, peacefulness and serenity. The sunsets that I’ve taken pictures of I’ve written poems too because they are breathtaking. Mr. Phipps, your people are amazing and it’s a direct representation of how great person you are and the standards you’ve set for those working there. May you and your people be blessed with so many more blessings throughout their time working there. The ground crew does a better job than any other public course I’ve ever played on and I’m sure your very proud of them.
Respectfully,
Hawk
Great layout
One of the best courses in the hill country of Texas, it allow you to use your entire golf bag. Shot making is a must, you will have cure the ball also, hit it high, hit it low. This is a shot makers course. The real challenge will come from playing the back tees. Play well , enjoy your round.
Worth the drive
I live 30 minutes away but the course is always in great shape and the staff is always welcoming and courteous. The course rating would easily be 5 star except the greens were recently punched and aren’t completely back yet.
Fun
The Marshal let a group of Five start before 2 groups of two which kept us waiting on every hole. It was a fun course and lots of deer if I am ever in the area again I would play the course
