Delaware Springs Golf Course
About
Named after the springs that snake through the layout, Delaware Springs Golf Course is a scenic links-style track that is one of the better values in Texas golf. The low prices and friendly service, combined with a picturesque and challenging golf course, make this a Hill Country favorite.
Architects Dave Axland and Dan Proctor built a natural-looking course that fits the terrain perfectly. The course is nestled into the rolling hills and oak trees along the Highland Lakes, playing 6,891 yards from the tips. During your round you’ll encounter lush fairways frequently loaded with bunkers, large greens that slope severely, and numerous bump and run shots. The designers added a few original touches, such as the descriptive Scottish names for each hole (the 18th is called "Hame" for the home hole).
Another interesting design twist involved placing the signature hole as the opener. Playing 504 yards to a par 5, no. 1 is best attacked with an iron into the left side of a sloping, tree-lined fairway. The creek cuts into the landing area, making it a testy tee shot. The second shot must bend around the dogleg to the left and over the creek, and the approach is into the green shaded by large trees on the right.

Incredible Course
This course is by far the best value for your dollar in the hill country region of Texas. Incredible course conditions for the price.
Great hill country course that is fun to play
This course and facilities offer so much. I feel relaxed and at home here. I really enjoy the experience of playing golf in the hill country. The golf course is challenging and fair with a nice variety of scenic holes. The green fees are quite reasonable particularly considering the quality of the course. The course, including the greens, is typically in excellent condition. At times, the greens are fast. A few of the greens are particularly challenging due to slope and undulation. It's a good idea to respect the speed of the greens when you are above the hole. The bunkers have white powdery sand. There are some nice views of mesas in the distance on a few holes on the back nine. I like the practice facilities, too. It includes a driving range, short game practice area including a sand trap, and a separate putting green. A small bucket of balls is only $3. The restaurant and dining area are nice with an excellent selection of food, snacks, and refreshments. The dining area has large wooden tables and chairs. There is also an outdoor pavilion near the clubhouse. In addition, there are nice restrooms near the middle of each 9. Doug and his staff are really helpful and welcoming. The pro shop has a nice selection of equipment and accessories for very reasonable prices. Where else can you get a quality wedge at a discount and a chicken salad sandwich?
Fun day
Drove 159 miles (One way) to play with my son. We had a great time on a very nice course. Will definitely come back at some time.
Best Muni Course in the country
If yoy can find me a more dedicated staff, a better value for your dollar, better greens, and a cooler layout than here in the entire country, I dare you. Show me.
Excellent choice
I was visiting the Austin area and picked Delaware Springs to play because of the good ratings on Golf Now and I was not disappointed
Nice layout and very friendly staff! I’d sure play there again
cold and windy
Me and 3 of my friends met up at Delaware Springs, we do this about once or twice a month. It had been a couple months since we could meet and play a round of golf. A front was blowing in and it was 47 with wind blowing out of the north at 15 mph. The course was its usual self with narrow fairways, for some and the greens were in great shape, The staff have always been great to deal with and pace of play has never been slow. I would like to thank everybody and can;t wait to come back.
Great hill country course
Delaware Springs never disappoints! This time of year the fairways are dull but are still in good condition. The greens were rolling great! It is a treat to make the hour drive to play here.
Great value, friendly staff and fast greens. Consider it my home course.
Great course very professional and we'll maintained.
Friendly remaks
I like to play this course. I am a medium skilled golfer and this course has a variety of difficulty which are challenging.
Sunday play very slow
This my second time playing here. First review still stands as I like the course. The caveat to players is the pace of play on Sunday. The round was 5 hours. Too long and too slow. We played behind a five some.
No place I'd rather be
If you can find me a better, course, with a better staff, with a more dedicated grounds crew, I dare you. Bring it! Best greens anywhere!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO PLAY GOLF
Hi if your reading this and you didn’t play on the 23rd or 24th of January 2018, you missed two of the most beautiful days to play golf. From thanking Bear to squeezing me in to the Marshal who paired me up with Jay from Bertram and John and Jeff from Chicago who were awesome to play the round with. The course is yes still brown from the winter but the fairways were grassy enough to allow a nice little divot. The sand traps were great with the new white sand but work my hardest to stay out of those things. The day as I said was amazing with a 5-10 mph wind from the south and the temperature at about 65 degrees. Shot 8 under 80 got the round and I’m sure Jay shot close to a 75-78. The guys from Chicago were funny and lots of fun to play with. The grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes from the snack shop was amazing and it’s always nice to see the beautiful ladies working there. Thank you again after nearly 9 yrs of playing this course that it’s always fantastic to see so many great people from all over and may I get another chance to join new people to play this hidden gem of a Course. I’ve played many courses but I can assure you , that you totally love this course the people, the putting and the driving range. Oh yeah forgot to mention that these greens should be nicknamed “Grease Lightning “ for their speed! They were running about a 10+ no doubt but since I knew the Course conditions this time of the year I knew how to put them close. This course never amazes me of how beautiful the surroundings are and they are always making improvements like on number 4 where they are putting a sprinkler system in so that there will be grass there in the spring. Keep up the great work and thank you to all the staff under Mr Phipps for your hard work and dedication. Respectfully, Robert Rocha, SgtMaj, USMC (Ret)
Good value
We played on ML King day and the Course was full. We waited on most holes but still finished in 4 hours. At this time of year the fairwys were brown and dormant. The greens were fast and true. The lay out of the Course was fairly straightforward but interesting enough to play again. Bunker sand was soft and forgiving
