Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Looking for a cheap round!
If you want a cheap round to just go play Blackhawk will work. The greens are decent , fairways are pretty rough but for a public course that mostly beginning golfers play it’s not the worst I’ve played.. Bottom line is you get a fun round for a good price.
Blackhawk course
The greens are in good shape. The front 9 fairways are good but the back nine fairways need weed control.
Goat ranch
I don’t usually write reviews unless a course is extremely good or really bad. Unfortunately, this one is probably the worse. This course has gone downhill in a hurry. Several fairways are dried out with no grass, most of them have weeds growing in them. At $44 a round, this course is highly overpriced in its current condition. Greens are ok but if they can’t take care of their fairways, I see those getting bad as well.
I was hoping this course was in better shape than the last time I played it! It was still the same narly fairways as before! Will not be returning a third time!
Not recommended for beginners
We are not the best players so typically we let people behind us play through. The party behind us did not want to as they were just as bad but the Marshall kept getting on us about pace of play. So we switched to a 2 man scramble to speed up and skipped a hole but the Marshall was following us the whole way... Not recommended for beginners unless you want the Marshall following you every hole
Sell it
Sell the place so that a group can turn it into a decent track.
Terrible course
I will never waste my money to play this course again. It’s in terrible condition. Grass growing in the bunkers, y’all grass growing in the middle of the fairway. I believe the person who owns the course wants to sell the course and doesn’t want to put any money back into the course. Terrible business thought. Wouldn’t you want to attract potential buyers.
Non the less last time I spend a penny there

Good course
Course is in good shape. Staff is very friendly and professional.
Course layout is good.
Fairways
Green and tee boxes very good. Fairways have bare spots and no signs of correcting. Huge weeds in fairways and roughs and no signs of correcting.
Not worth the money
I’ll start with the positive, really the only positive, the greens were in wonderful shape and played well. However, the fairways were a mixture of all types of grass, weeds, sand, dirt, mud, you name it. I never had the same shot twice. I played on a Sunday and it was over a 5 hour round, never saw a marshal at all. Just play somewhere else.
