Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Not worth the money
over priced for poorly maintained tee boxes, fairways, and rough. Bunkers had no sand and lots of weeds in many of them. Lots of dead hard dirt in the fairways. Only decent part was the greens were fairly good and I like some of the hole layouts.
Sad
Used to be a great course but the unwillingness to have a practice facility or give the fairways a little attention is sad. It fills the need of lesser expensive country golf but has so much more potential. I’d rather pay a few more dollars and play Tera Vista, Avery Ranch or Star Ranch
Horrific
Quite possibly the worst conditions in the area. Sprinklers have likely not been run at any point in the summer. Bunkers and fairways are concrete, with more dirt than grass (where there is grass, it’s hard pan conditions). It’s such a shame, this course has a fantastic layout (although they did squeeze some fairways in where they may not have had the room...), and with proper maintenance could be one of the best in the area. I like to scoop up the $12-$15 hot deals, I wouldn’t pay more than that.
Hmmmmmm
Where does the crabgrass end in the fairway begin?. Course was over-watered causing the turf to be soggy and the bunkers to be puddles on the front and rock hard on the back. I'd rather pay $20 more up the street for Forest Creek.
Average
Fairways have lacked any maintenance but the greens are in decent shape. Okay value for the money but not the best course around
Every city needs a Blackhawk
Pretentious golfers, steer clear. This course is for people who love the game but don't have big money to spend on it. Personally, I'm glad that it still exists.
Don't get it twisted, the people who whine on here about the fairways and bunkers are right. It's not going to win any awards. The greens are decent, the tee boxes are up to par, and the layout is fun — scoreable, but with enough challenges to keep it interesting.
Twice in the past month I've played in under 4 hours with groups of humble, young golfers who are just out for a good deal and a fun time. Good players, too. Just don't expect a perfect lie and don't pay the peak rate. Beware that they expect the carts back by 8 p.m., well before dark.
Nice Course
Price was great. Greens were nice but would’ve liked the pace of play to be better. Overall enjoyed the course.
Don't bother
The course is in terrible shape and you will often have a hard time finding your ball on the fairway. If they charged 15 bucks a round it would be a better deal but for 30-40 bucks on weekends you can play infinitely better courses.
Rathole
The course is either going to be sold or becoming residential real estate! The fairways were horrible, tee boxes just the same. Greens were nice. The place was preparing for a funeral. If you like to play golf, don’t waste your money here.
Course Upgrade
This course has the potential to be a great track to play but the fairways are spotty at best and the bunkers are ridiculous to play out of. The bunkers are the most neglected part of this course, they have grass growing out of them and I don't think they have been raked in years. REPAIR THE BUNKERS TO PLAYABLE CONDITIONS!!
One photo is a bunker the other is a fairway. It is tough to tell the difference.
Mid Week Golf
I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions of the greens. Last time here they weren’t great so I wasn’t expecting much. Greens rolled great a fast.
