Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Blackhawk Firsttimers
Course was nice. Not very clear markings. Cart path was terrible and at some areas in drivable. The course is over watered and very wet on a midday tee time with no rain in past month there were extreme amounts of standing water and the sand traps were just mud.
Not targeted at course managers, but patrons were not that friendly and constantly littering and leaving cigarette butts everywhere.
Terrible
They are not putting any money into the upkeep of this course. Dirt fairways and no sand in the sand traps. Head elsewhere.
Our Pairings were great
Best part of today was playin with 2 military vets (Duane and Dave). Course was long, but conditions were awful. (Bunkers last had sand in 1995 and most grown in with grass)
I wasn’t able to post my GHIN score because there was no active rating for this course. Grill was great at the turn. No coolers though. Overall a challenging yet fun course to play weekly. Bunkers could use some upkeep but the greens and fairways were in great shape considering the overwatering that occurs in November.
Rough course but playable
This course seems to be more roughly maintained than others I've played recently. The bunkers seemed poorly maintained. There were no trash cans or ball washing at the tees. However, the course has fewer places to lose balls to the left or right since there are mostly houses lining the course. The fairways and greens are reasonably well maintained but some cart paths need maintenance. There was lots of standing water on the course without recent rains.
Never again
Poor course conditions. Extremely slow play. Many beginning golfers or those more interested in beer drinking than golf..
Yuk
No grass on the fairways. No trash cans. No ball washers. Manager just scowls at everyone. 1st and last time to play here.
Great for the MONEY!
Definitely a great course for the Money! Get a hot deal on Golf Now and ENJOY! Course has a good lay out, carts are in fair condition, greens are well kept (especially recently), fair ways are ok, but do have spots that resemble your cow pasture. Overall plays well and is fun cheaper outing for Golf!
