Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Poor greens
The greens were very bad. They had crag grass spots on 90% of the greens and no matter how good a putter you did not have a half a chance to make the putt. They should charge half the price because you can only play half a game. Nothing on the green was make-able unless you were inside a foot.
Some Faiways
Are in miserable shape, but this does not include the people in the club house who check you in. They have no personality and the professionalism is completely out the window. The course could be such a beautiful place to play if the grounds keepers could put some work into the areas around the greens as well as the fairways. There are so many weeds around the greens and some of the fairways look like your out hiking in some dirty state park that has peaks and valleys. The back nine is the worse with exception of 18.
Windy Golf
For a Texas course on a cool winter day with much too much wind, the course played very nice with wonderful fairways that really helped add to the distance for any good and low hit drives and the greens were very challenging with the grass being so fast and cut low.
Not Good
Fairways in bad condition, greens worse. $30 on a Friday so I won't complain too much. Would much rather play Shadowglen, similar price and they take care of the course.
Great pacing
Course was wet, but it played fair. Pace of play was awesome. Done in 3 1/2 hours.
Pace of Play
Slow fivesome on a Sunday....Really?
Wish the marshal had been paying attention.
Wet and Boring
It was wet from recent rain but course is nothing special . Nothing to recommend it .
Post Rain
Though the condition was challenging along with sunset in my eyes. I thought, "What would Tiger Woods do if he were in this position?" I pressed on and to my surprise, I developed my swing, and results were impressive.
needs work
The back nine is in much better shape than front. Overall, not bad but some issues with weeping heads and wet spots. Weed problems. My main complaint....played late afternoon....NO WATER in any cooler..not even the one in the clubhouse????? It is a fun layout and generally in decent shape...wouldn't take much to improve it.
Stop Being A Golf Snob!
Blackhawk has a reputation for being kind of a dog track. But you know what? Maybe you're not exactly Pine Valley material yourself!
And that's how you should approach the course. I came in with low expectations, and not only was it not that bad, I actually put together a pretty good round. The greens had recently been punched but were rolling really well; it was well-watered, maybe a little too much; and the bones are there for a really good course. Keep your shots fairly near your intended target, and you'll agree
You get what you pay for
If your looking for a reasonble price and an ok course to play this will work. I wouldn't recommend a membership here, if you are used to playing resort course the this place will most likely just annoy you. I wasn't asked much less offered the chance to get on the range to warm up, there were balls all over the practice greens, and there was no signage as to where whole #1 and #10 much less anything else.
Golfer
I like this course as a Challenging place to play.
course
Excellent pace and up kept. Overall I would play in this course again.
Beautiful course
The course was very well maintained. Greens were fast, holes were well set up. One of my favorite courses in Austin so far!
Great Value
As always, staff is great. Course is in better shape, nice afternoon.
Accessible and Affordable
Good fairways..Greens maintained..Lots of balls can be found due to recent flooding! Great job getting course back online.
Blackhawk
Overall descent, but they have room for improvement
when your on the edge of the boundary of play. Lots of dirt where there should be grass.
Great Course if it wasn't soggy
The only reason the I scored it the condition as poor is that it rained for several days before and everything was a water hazard including the bunkers. Other than that the course design is great, mostly wide open and the creeks were definately flowing.
A fun course to play
grabbed a hot deal from GolfNow. Excellent green for putting. would give 5 stars if fairway condition can be better.
