Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Slow down at the turn
For almost the entire fromt 9 we had no one in front of us and we were cruising. Then it was like every one jumped on the back nine and play came to a stand still. Very frustrating!!!!
Great Time
It's been a few years since I've played this course. Rate of play was a bit slow but I've never had this problem before so I'll just say it was one of those days. No complaints, good course for the money. I'll be returning in the near future.
Rough
they are trying, but this course is in rough shape. Almost not worth the only $20 paid for round.
great price
Play this course over the year it has seen it better days . I can say this it has impoved over the last two for the better.
Nice course for the price
This is a very nice course, with mostly wide fairways. There are a couple of go for it shots, like the drive on 17, and some long par 3's(#5 is especially tough), but not a lot of water and the fairway bunkers are easy to play. Greens are a little slow, and have some rough spots, but are mostly pretty good. It is an enjoyable course to get out and knock it around with your friends. Enjoy the great golf now pricing.
Good Course
Good course anytime. Would recommend others. NEEDS LANTING MORE TREES ON THE COURSE AND ALSO MORE GRASS ON DRY FAIRWAYS.
Fairway Issues
Fairways had plenty of weeds, especially the back nine. Greens were fine.
Blackhawk
The fairways are in rough shape. Several are under repair - had to drop outside of roped off areas.
Course was also very wet do to recent rains (but other courses aren't this bad?).
This was the first course which I played at when I started playing a year ago. I was curious and decided to go back. Now I remember why I stopped playing here.
First Time And Last Time To Play Here
The course is in ok condition, but there are many spots where there is dried up dirt and rocks. The greens were in great shape, but getting to them is a different story. I got a cart # and couldn't find it outside. Went back in to tell them and was treated as if I'm an idiot. I scheduled a very early tee time with my buddy so we could make it back home early to be with our families. We got to the first tee and there was four younger gentlemen there but it was our tee time (guess who had my original cart). The Marshall said they were there first and could tee off because I guess it makes more sense to put a foursome in front of a twosome. Not only did we have to tee off later, but we had to wait even longer because he had another twosome start earlier then their scheduled tee time to play with us. It wasn't busy at all so I didn't understand what the need for that was. Then on hole 7 he came up to us and said we need to pick up the pace of play when there was nobody on the hole behind us. Thought we were fine on the pace of play and we finished the course in 4 hours when they expect it to be 4 1/4 hours. He came by on the back nine and said it again. I love being hassled by the Marshall and the kids that take your golf balls if you hit it close to their backyard. At least the kid on hole 16 was sitting out by his fence hustling golfers to buy golf balls he found in his backyard. We did not have a pleasant experience. Though the course seems like it'd be fun, we will not go back to play again.
Not terrible for the money
A few spots were absolutely awful, but overall my terrible
Not the best
Not a good course, very bland and not interesting. I sailed a four iron into the snack bar and darn near killed four people!
Making the Effort
Blackhawk is in my back yard and I enjoy being able to play a course that is close to home and provides a challenge.
The owners are working on improving the course and after last years tough winter most courses in the area have repairs to be made.
We had a great day and enjoyed are round. I am sure I will be teeing it up again at Blackhawk in the near future.
Course was in better shape than expected (but not great)
I had played at BH 2-3 years ago. So when I returned to it past weekend, I was expecting a course in fairly poor shape. There were still bunch of areas in bad shape (bare ground with no grass), but overall, it was in a better shape than I feared. Green was sanded and rolled reasonably well (but not very fast). It's not a course you would take your important guests or clients, but it's worth a visit once a while.
Not bad/not great
Some good holes, some bad holes. If you want to see several examples of where not to place houses along the fairways of a golf course, this is a good place to start your analysis. Course was in much better shape than what I recall in previous visits - many years ago. Greens were very good. Fairways were good with some rough spots here and there. Bunkers were in generally good shape as well.
This course dropped off my radar after my past experiences. I do see some improvements being made. If you want a golf fix, this is not a bad choice but there are nicer courses close by.
It's OK
Decent course. I played it earlier in the year, but went back to see if it would be better. My major gripes are the greens and the course conditions on the back 9. The greens are in bad shape, and the back 9 fairways were in terrible condition. I would play again, but I would only pay $30 at the most. The staff is friendly and the pace of play is pretty good.
Course is playable and fun
Blackhawk was in better conditions than I expected. Fairways were not too dry but an abundance of patches that are missing grass was annoying. We lost a couple of balls in water hazards after hitting tee shots in the middle of the fairway which was also annoying. The greens were decent but like the fairways had some spots missing grass. For a good deal on Golfnow it is worth the money but don't expect too much.
A really nice day golfing
A really fun day, though the course was kinda rouch it's laid out well and was a good workout.
Just really started up playing again this last year and this is only the second time playing a round this year.
NIce Layout - So-So Condition
Play was good, with enough challenge but enough forgiveness to be fun. Green conditions were fair, but still seemed to play OK. Other parts of the course were not too good. There were huge holes in the turf on and near fairways, and blocked off obstacles that should have been fixed instead of being blocked off.
Value would be super if range balls were included in the Hot Deal price. Having to buy range balls and pay tolls make the effective cost twice that of the Hot Deal green fee. I can't fathom paying full price ($42) for this course. Lago Vista and Crystal Falls are far better for that price.
Beware of unseen water crossing
This course without a yardage book can drive you nuts. Water crossings in the normal landing areas. Fairways left a lot to be desired. Greens however were okay....
