Blackhawk Golf Club

About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

It’s fine, but don’t get excited
Course is usually in pretty tough shape. Some fairways are crab grass and dirt patches which cause your ball you hit in the fairway to bounce like crazy, but there aren’t many courses in the area under $60. If you are looking to shoot a good score look somewhere else, but if you want to hit some golf balls outside for 4 hours and not break the bank, this place gets the job done.
Don't waste your time
Greens are gone. What grass there is serve as bumps. Fairways are covered in weeds. Can't find your ball when it's in the fairway it's so bad. Too make matters worse there are crevices in the fairways where the clay has cracked from drought that will eat your ball also. You'll get far better value playing one of the nearby muni's than this dump.
Maintenance is not kept up with for price
Usually come here with my dad on Sunday mornings but we have been noticing for a while now the fairways are in bad condition whether it’s grass that just can’t grow or overgrown weeds that your perfect drive gets lost in way to often. 60$ on a Sunday morning tee time is just a bit overpriced for how bad the course conditions are my personal opinion it should be 40$ for the Sunday morning tee time would fit the value with the course conditions. However with all that said the staff is amazing every single time. I do believe the experience would be way more worth it if they would at least cut the overgrown weeds in the fairways.
Poor Course Condition
The course is a mess - fairways, greens are overgrown, weedy, patchy. No water on the course. Pace of play was bottle necked with no Marshall. Not an enjoyable round.
Definitely not worth $45
Rough track
Shot 78 from the tips. Could have had a good round but the fairways were bare and full of weeds. Greens were like putting on a corn cob. Still like to go here because it’s cheaper but wish that it was in better condition.
Oof.
Fairways? Grass on the green? Forget about them and get out there in the trenches like you’re fighting for Verdun. Putting on the “greens” is like playing plinko except the old guy running the show isn’t Bob Barker, but some dude who just stopped caring a long time ago. If you decide to play here because it’s cheap just know there’s a reason it’s cheap.
Course in awful condition. No drinking water on course.
I’ve lived in Austin almost 20 years and I used to play here regularly over 10 years ago. The course has never been in 10 out of 10 condition, but this is the worst I’ve ever seen it. 2/10 condition.
The greens are absolutely awful looking. They don’t roll terribly slow, but for the most part, they look terrible and they play just as bad as they look.
It’s mid May and there was not one single water station on the golf course that had cold water and a couple of them didn’t even have the ice chest in there. That’s just brutal and added it on top of the fact that the course conditions are the way they were even spending less than $20 on the round. I feel like I overpaid.
