The Ravines Golf Club
About
Ravines Golf Club is southwest Michigan's first Arnold Palmer signature course. The course is situated three hours outside of Detroit in Saugatuck. Thanks to wide fairways and generous landing areas, the layout is not as tough as it seems but it does have plenty of challenges in store. Strategically placed bunkers, mature trees, and wetlands all come into play throughout. There are some challenging holes on the front half, including the sixth and seventh, but the back nine opens with the golf course's toughest hole. The ninth is a long and difficult par 5 dogleg left where trees, water, and bunkers come into play. Ravines Golf Club's signature hole, though, is the par-3 17th, known for both its scenery and level of difficulty. This hole requires a risky shot over a ravine to one of the golf course's largest putting surfaces.

Challenging par 5 - tee shot over the ravine Photo submitted by u00000638985 on 06/03/2013
A treat to play
I couldn't pass up the GN deal. This is an Arnold Palmer course and as one would expect the conditions of course are top notch. Stunning vista and nature. It was a real challenge for me, an average golfer. Nothing negative to share.
Good valu
It was a good value due to the golfnow hot deal. One of my favorite courses. Fairways and greens are in great shape. On a Sunday we completed 18 in four hours.
Great course
Not my first time here. Ravines is one of the courses that I keep on coming back to for a challenging, but fair round. As usual the overall course was immaculately manicured with each hole consistent with another. I definitely will be playing Ravines again.
MICHIGAN GEM
What another great surprise in Western Michigan. I have played 2 other Arnold Palmer signature courses in Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach. This one is Sagatuck was a great layout, in excellent condition and a joy to play. The course gave ample room off the tees with a ball correctly placed, provided scoring opportunities with a approach shots. The par 3 holes had a great mixture of short and long. Can't wait to play this one again.
Great day at The Ravines
I like the Ravines but their usual pricing is a bit high for my typical days on the course. However, a GolfNow hot deal helped make for a great round well worth the cost. The Ravines personnel greet you at your vehicle as you pull in, load your clubs on your cart, and continue the great service for the entire day. The course has always been it great condition with true rolling medium quick greens, well manicured fairways, and real sand in the traps, a rarity these days outside of club courses. If you can get a hot deal or don't mind their normal pricing, it is worth the trip, a great plot
wonderful
I live in southern Florida where we have pga tour courses. This course rates with many of them.
Priced crazy good
Great fun!
Course is beautiful , staff friendly and fun was there to be had. I will play here again.
The Ravines, Saugatuck, MI
Excellent couse, excellent facilities. Built between a forest so hit 'em straight or bring a few sleeves of balls with you. Your drive is important. There is usually 100 yards of deep rough and/or a valley in between the tee box and the fairway. There are also some weel placed bunkers to watch out for. There are only a few water hazrads.
This is a beautiful, scenic, peaceful course. A deer ran across the fairway on 5, and hawk and turkey feathers could be seen if you looked. Very challenging and fun course and completely worth the time.
Great course condition
A lot of high grass areas made it tough to see the hole layout from the tee boxes. Along with a lot of doglegs it made for a few layup holes but the course was in great shape thru the green.
Certainly recommend and I would play again.
absolute paradise for golf
Everything went perfect from the time of arrival till leaving. Greeted and clubs carried to cart and strapped in. Even tipped the kid 5 bucks because of his service. went right in and checked in with pro and he knew exactly what was going on with my GN reservation. Told me where to start and was thorough with direction. Both workers I dealt with were top shelf! The cart was perfect for all weather conditions and it was quiet and ran to a T. The course it's self from tee box to green were in perfect condition and well groomed. The greens rolled true. The play was somewhat slow due to a few foursomes and singles in between. I play fast so no biggy. I ended up pairing up with a single on number 4 so that helped. The layout and scenery was utopic to say the least, and very peaceful and quiet as well. You can really concentrate and enjoy a full round of golf here. The front nine has its opportunities to score but be ready for the challenging back. If you hit the ball straight and play the fairways this course will reward you. If your right and left it will be tuff. Lots of bunkers surrounding greens and fairway bunkers pushing accurate tee shots. I will say this is probably now in my top 3 courses I have played and will be back soon. I did not have any food or beverages other than water so I really can not rate that part. I'm sure it's very good though.
Holiday treat
The course was in great shape and, even with a full course on a holiday weekend, the pace of play was excellent.
An outstanding golf course
Beautiful quiet excellent condition wonderful staff.
This is another terrific Arnold Palmer design
I love to play courses designed by Arnold Palmer. The driving areas are friendly in general, although many holes narrow the further you hit it down the fairway. . The greens are very approachable, unlike Nicklaus courses that have greens that are guarded front and back, with silly greens. There are forced carries on many holes, but they are reasonable. The back nine is really beautiful with many trips over the ravines that the golf course is built around. This is a course you could easily play everyday and enjoy it, but find plenty of challenge for your game. I will play this golf course again. i recommend it highly.
golf now trouble shoot
The course and golf now had some issues syncing up the tee times, mainly golf now's fault...
Great course but no one likes a 5.5 hour round..
You pay $70 to enjoy a challenging course at a reasonable pace. Instead about 7 groups got stuck behind a couple groups of drunk frat boys littering Jell-O shots all over the course causing a massive back-up. Several groups quit, we only didn't since we paid so much. This shouldn't happen at a course like this..not when you pay this much
Quality Course!
This was my first time at the Ravines. The course was rather busy the day I played so I waited frequently, this was the worst thing about my experience but I still got around the course in a decent amount of time. The biggest quip I had about the facility was that they didn't allow chipping on the putting green for some reason and they didn't have a chipping green. That's the first time I've ever heard of this. As far as the course itself, it was an absolute gem! Quality greens and fairways with plenty of challenging beautiful holes. Each hole had its own character and style with some being open and some tighter. The carts this year were also new and they had a great GPS system that was top quality. You could also keep score on the GPS and it emailed the scorecard to me when I was done. Very awesome!! I'll definitely be back.
Cant Find Much Wrong on This Course
Great course! Excellent condition. The pace of play is not the courses fault. Just depends on how long the moron infront of you searches for his Slazenger! The pace of play was great once they figured out the woods was bad. The course is in great condition always. Greens are challenging and rewarding. THere are some great holes to score on, and then there are some treacherous ones. If you can place your ball on the fairways, you seem to always be in a great location to score, and the course has some forgiveness. I love this course. The price is a bit steep without a deal, but if you find a good rate, I HIGHLY recommend it! Great Course
The Ravines is a Great Track and Hidden Gem!!!!
The Ravines offer you almost every challenge imaginable in golf. This must be an Arnold Palmer design!!!! The cart girl girl, Jenna, help the round even better!!!! She always seems to show up at the right time!!!! This course is truly a Hidden Piece of Greatness!!!!
