The Ravines Golf Club
About
Ravines Golf Club is southwest Michigan's first Arnold Palmer signature course. The course is situated three hours outside of Detroit in Saugatuck. Thanks to wide fairways and generous landing areas, the layout is not as tough as it seems but it does have plenty of challenges in store. Strategically placed bunkers, mature trees, and wetlands all come into play throughout. There are some challenging holes on the front half, including the sixth and seventh, but the back nine opens with the golf course's toughest hole. The ninth is a long and difficult par 5 dogleg left where trees, water, and bunkers come into play. Ravines Golf Club's signature hole, though, is the par-3 17th, known for both its scenery and level of difficulty. This hole requires a risky shot over a ravine to one of the golf course's largest putting surfaces.

Challenging par 5 - tee shot over the ravine Photo submitted by u00000638985 on 06/03/2013
A good test of golf
Found the course more that challenging from the white tees. The play was a little slow do to a couple of foursomes in front but would recommend the course to anyone.
I got a great rate. The course is great. The people are friendly
Play during the week if you can. Play the course, don't let it play you. Played alone and at my pace.
I have to go there more often this time of the year.
Challenging course. Beautiful scenery
Beatiful course, but you need to stay focused on hitting the ball straight. Once off the fairway, it can be hard or next to impossible to find the ball. #14 drive requieres your best to be in play. There is no bale out location, so almost unfair. I will definetely play it again. Great value with GolfNow.
The price was great and the course was perfect. I would recommend this course to anyone who plays golf.
The price was great and the course was perfect. I would recommend this course to anyone who plays golf.
Great course!
This golf course is wonderful, one of my favorites to play. It is quite long but full of beautiful scenery. It's very well mainted; perfect fairways and very fast greens. If you get a chance to play this course don't miss it.
Beautiful tree lined, quiet, natural golf setting. A+
From the pro shop to the 19th hole we had a great, super friendly golf experience. The course is heavily wooded with no two fairways together. No houses. No streets. You feel as if you are the only ones on the course. Some wetlands, ravines and lots of sand traps make the course pretty challenging. From the tee boxes to the greens the conditions were outstanding. I would definitely stop back again when visiting Michigan.
this course is playable for average and above players-beautiful
I played this course under the hot deals. the cost was super based on the quality of the course. We played in the afternoon and played in less than 4 hours. the greens were fast for the average player, but fair. We played the blue tees one up from tips, and presented an excellent challenge for us. I would highly recommend this course and would play it weekly if the times and rates were on hot deals, 5 stars.
Play moved fairly well, played previously play was a little slow.
very good..............must give it a try, exemplifies a Mich course without going too north.
One of the best in West Michigan
This is an excellent course from the moment you hit the driveway. Worth the drive if you're not a local. Very playable but still challenging. The greens reward good iron shots and putts. It's a must play every summer.
The greens were in great shape and challenging.
The course was in very good shape. The rough was difficult .
beautiful course
like the layout, each hole is separate from each other. well maintained with beautiful scenery .
Beautiful everything! An adventure from the first tee!
Beautiful clubhouse, pleasent people, and a fantastic course.
Challenging but fun. It just keeps getting better as you play.
Bring your "A" game. Can't wait to play again.
Very difficult coarse but in great condition
This course is not for a beginning golfer as the vegetation is in front of tees and greens It is really a challenge for a golfer that cannot hit the ball very far
great layout, well maintained
The course was in great shape, no brown spots. the grass was a bit wet from the time we teed off to the last putt, but nonetheless it was still great. i played the nearby Clearbrook golf course and it was not even close in comparison. if you're in the area i would definitely reccommend playing ravines and not clearbrook. it will be worth the price. (use golfnow)
The perfect challenge
This course is truly a gem for the area. It is close to South Haven and playing the course you'd think you were in northern Michigan. I truly enjoyed the challenge, and the views were amazing.
Always a treat to play The Ravines
The course is always in top notch condition. The staff is friendly.
Bring your "A-Game" to this Palmer course.
Mr. Palmer created a real gem out of this landscape. Great scenery, atmosphere, and personnel. The course was in fantastic shape, the landing areas for your drives were surprizingly generous, and the greens were challenging without being tricked-up. Arnie put a lot of thought into making a course that is playable and affordable for a wide range of golfers, BUT, bring your "A-Game" if you really want to score because there are several holes with blind tee shots. These few holes can cost you strokes due to hitting into either water hazards or ravines that are placed where a decent tee shot would land that you can't see. So beware and bring a couple of extra golf balls. That being said playing this course was still an excellent and an enjoyable experience...you would expect nothing less from an Arnold Palmer championship golf course.
The Ravines Golf Club
This is Michigan golf at its finest. A beautiful course carved out of the woods; in pristine condition. Challenging, but playable and fair even for a high handicapper like myself. What a treat. I plan to be back, and have already recommended it to a number of friends.
It's a great track!
Well worth the trip. Depending on which tees you play from, this course will give you all the game you want. The blues are a challenging 6,500 yards. The day we played the greens were fast and true. The wind was blowing hard from the north and the temp never got higher than 65 (July 27th). We come to play the fourteenth and seventeenth holes which are worth the drive and when you play the former from the blues (605 yds) or blacks (624 yds), you'll need a great drive to set up the hole.
Beautiful and challenging
The course was in great condition. 2 members asked my playing partner and I if we wanted to play as a 4 some. That worked out great with all of the blind tee shots that there are. The greens were fast and rolling true. I will definitely be back.
