The Ravines Golf Club
About
Ravines Golf Club is southwest Michigan's first Arnold Palmer signature course. The course is situated three hours outside of Detroit in Saugatuck. Thanks to wide fairways and generous landing areas, the layout is not as tough as it seems but it does have plenty of challenges in store. Strategically placed bunkers, mature trees, and wetlands all come into play throughout. There are some challenging holes on the front half, including the sixth and seventh, but the back nine opens with the golf course's toughest hole. The ninth is a long and difficult par 5 dogleg left where trees, water, and bunkers come into play. Ravines Golf Club's signature hole, though, is the par-3 17th, known for both its scenery and level of difficulty. This hole requires a risky shot over a ravine to one of the golf course's largest putting surfaces.

Challenging par 5 - tee shot over the ravine Photo submitted by u00000638985 on 06/03/2013
Why Do They Keep This Course So Wet??
Let me start by saying this is one of the best courses I have ever played except.... THEY KEEP THIS COURSE SOAKED!!! We played on Sept 26, perfect day, 70 and sunny. We played the course from the back tees which is a huge challenge. I had to lift and clean mud off of my ball after every tee shot weather it landed in the rough of fairway. I would like to say that this was an isolated incident at this course, but it happens every time I play here. This course is amazing but I do not understand why they soak it so much. Keeps me away for a while and then I go back hoping for better conditions. Sorry for the bad review but it made for a very frustrating round.
Well maintained course
This course is challenging but fair. Wide open fairways allow you to drive most par 4's. Your approach shot to large greens make pars attainable. Wind will definitely play a factor in proper club selection. Great people and up north feel make this one of my favorite course to play and invite guest. Come and play one of Michigan's finest golf courses.
All holes fun to play !!
Love to play the course, however, I know you depend on the summer vacationers for a lot of the play during vacation time in the area. There are just too many beautiful courses in Michigan that can be played for much less than is charged for 18 holes at the Ravines. Wouldn't you rather have every tee time filled every day at a lower cost to the golfer instead of having tee times available any time a golfer wishes to play? Get the drift?
Beautiful and challenging course. Friendly and supportive staff. Appreciated cart and GPS. Nice variety of hole challenges.
Appreciated the opportunity
NIce use of natural features.
Course is aptly named
Cart was important due to distances and ravines.
Great track for the price we payed.
We played a late fall round and fully enjoyed ourselves. The greens had been punched (with the needle sized holes) and still rolled very nicely. No issues with leaves.
We had a beautiful Michigan fall day with temps in the lower 50's which might have kept away the crowds. There were probably only 20 people out on the course and never ran into another group (We played in just under 3 hours).
A great track, they have 4 different tee boxes and had nice sized fairways and greens. There is plenty of sand to protect landing areas and greens, however being a high end course the traps are well maintained and easy to get out of.
I would highly recommend this course to others, one of the best in southwest Michigan. If you have played Hawkshead or Harbor Shores and liked them, you will love this course.
The course has a couple nice holes.
The course has a couple nice holes but over all its some what of a boring layout. Smallish greens were a let down as well. The course does have some beautiful scenery on the holes that play over and around the deep ravine that bisects the course. Having played the Jack Nicklaus course in Saint Joeseph Mi I wanted to play Arnies course as well. There is no comparison between the two. Jacks course is a true championship masterpiece that is a must play. The Ravines would be a nice course to play if their fee's were half of what they now are. Even though the course leaves a lot to be desired the staff does not. Everyone that I met was extremely friendly and helpful.
Very beautiful course
For a late October play, this course was in fabulous condition. The beauty of the acreage that this course sits on is outstanding.
Top level track
Excellent course. Loved the signature 14th and 17th holes. Probably wouldn't want to pay in season rack rate but great value with Golfnow deal.
One of West MI top courses
Love this course! One of my favorites in West MI. It is always in great condition, great practice facility, and top notch staff. The course has challenges, but it is very playable. Wide fairways and you can see where trouble is going to be on most holes. Very scenic. I would play it more, but green fees are a little high for me to be a course I would play often.
Beautiful layout
I fully enjoyed the golf experience that The Ravines had to offer. Friendly staff, challenging and scenic course, as well as a good value. I couldn't have asked for more.
LOVE this course
We came over for a golf weekend from Chicago with friends. The weather was not too cooperative but the course and staff sure were. This course won us all over and we will be back. Beautiful track of holes and great scenery. Challenging but fair course and very playable to make it extremely enjoyable.
This course is now in my personal top 5 favorite courses to play.
Keep up the GREAT work guys!
A very challenging but fair and enjoyable course.
We found the Ravines to have a friendly staff. The course is excellently maintained but we found the greens to be rather beat -up and not of the quality of prior playing on this course or a course of this caliber. There are a few holes that could have markers stating the distance to a water hazard or the haqrds to carry a hazard.
long carrys over ravines nice course
I try to play this course ones a year a good example of how nice michigan courses are
Greens are just plan fast!!!!!!!
The staff in the pro shop were very good, in fact their debit/visa machine was down and they were willing to let us go and play and he would generate the payment later pretty impressive.
5 star in all respects
Excellent course! Greens are fast and well maintained. Great par 5's and superb mix of short and long par 4's.
