Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Golf Now Very Misleading
I have booked on line to play Elks Run several times the past several years & never had an issue. This year I booked via Golf Now & had a terrible experience. I booked a “hot deal”
on line that was supposedly better than calling the pro shop. The “hot deal” charged me $59.99 for each players (booked a foursome) plus a $14.04 “convenience fee”. It was anything but convenient. They immediately charged my credit card $254. Had I called the pro shop to book the tee time we would have gotten the $49 senior rate & no “convenience fee”. Golf Now cost us $58 MORE than calling for a tee time. One of the players in our foursome had to cancel due to a conflict. So we ended up being a threesome. We cancelled more than 48 hours in advance. 2 days after we played Golf Now has yet to reimburse me $64 for the cancelled 4th player. Using Golf Now was a total rip-off.
August 25th
Course was slow play out of the gates. Take 5 to 6 holes for pace of play to become acceptable.
The 2nd hole par 3 seem to bog the pace of play down

What is Going On Here??
For a normal rate of about $75, we got a rude starter, unbelievably slow play (no marshall), no beverage cart until the 17th hole, and a DJ with his Hummer parked next to the 10th and 12th teeboxes with music blasting across the course for our final 11 holes which took nearly 3 hours. The carts have GPS that will stop the cart if you enter "restricted" areas which apparently include cart paths and coming within 20 yatds of the No Carts Sign.
This used to be my favorite place to play, but with the outrageous greens fees (they still call themselves a championship course) and slow play, no one in my foursome have plans to return.
Greens
Greens were beat up, but other than that, it was in mostly good condition
Hello, F2BYHyM6zuMw8Y0vM0e0. Thank you for visiting us at Elks Run Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Greens in rough shape, no carts
There were no carts ready for our 3pm tee time, we had to wait for a group to return from their round and grab one that had little juice left.
The greens were in not in great shape. For the price of the course, I'd expect better conditions.
Decent Course
Course was fine and was very pleasing to the eye. Good combination of holes that required precision shots with holes that were wide open. A lot of the bunkers though were full of weeds and crab grass. The free relief for ground under repair was great but definitely took away from the overall aesthetic of the course.
Gone downhill this year
Several bunkers under repair, greens bumpy and number 4 has a ground hornet infestation making it rather uncomfortable and borderline dangerous to putt on. For full price rounds, should be better kept as it was in the past. Pace was ok, starter gave preference to members to play through which was an interesting touch.

Not worth the price
This place used to be one of the nicer courses in Cincinnati. Prices are among the highest in the area yet there are multiple burnt out greens with more bumps and divots than an acne riddled teenager. They send groups out 8 minutes apart causing 6hr rounds. Zero ranger help. SHRINK THE GAME

Great Public Course!
Elks run was in amazing shape for the middle of July and peak of golf season! Elks run provided a challenging yet enjoyable course. Multiple holes are surrounded with running creeks and bodies of water to make approach shots challenging.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Elks Run Golf Club.
Staff Member in Charge of Pace of Play needs to go.
I’ve played at Elks Run numerous times, I love the course. We had an 8am tee time, and our round started off fairly slow. So after waiting on almost every tee box on the front 9 we decided to stop at turn and grab some food & drink, thank goodness we did as that separated the group in front of us. As we finished up on 12 an older gentleman who was monitoring pace was incredibly rude to my friends and I. As he wagged his finger at us and asked us “to pick up the pace” we fired back at him about how we had waited at almost every tee box until the back 9. He was beyond rude and being a grumpy old man. We were playing as fast as the group in front of us allowed. A message to the owners, whoever was controlling the pace of play Sunday the 14th needs to be fired or demoted to another position. If this would have been my first time playing here, I’d probably never come back. The Starter and staff inside were FABULOUS. The old grumpy man who was controlling pace of play doesn’t know how to effectively operate under his job title.
Used to be really worthwhile....
The course conditions are inverse to the current pricing...if you pay their normal greens fees, you're paying way too much, course has gone decidedly downhill in recent times, bunkers are a joke, with highly amusing rakes in position to rake.....weeds ? I would recommend to a friend, but only if they can get a really good deal on fees. Otherwise, spend your money elsewhere.
Decent course, for cost, expect better bunkers
The course was in good condition. We went off very early so no pace of play issues. For a weekend rate of almost $90, I’d expect sand to be in bunkers and overall better bunker conditions.
Thanks so much for the great review, Andrew9590219. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Elks Run Golf Club.
Needs work
For a $90 course there should not be grass in the bunkers and burnt spots on the green. The greens are heavily spotted from ball marks. The grounds crew needs to do better. This course is played a lot but they need to keep up with maintenance.
Great course, but be ready for the back 9...
We started on the back which was a challenge having not played here in over 10 years. The greens and layout on the back require local knowledge to play well. The front 9 is as enjoyable as it gets, enough challenge with some great shot values.
Thanks so much for the great review, howesc. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Elks Run Golf Club.

Please remove from Elks Run Golf Club. This is a Golf Now issue, not an issue with the Golf Club. Elks Run doesn't control Golf Now.
