Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
Great course
I love this course, but they really could use more yardage markers, great job on the green , pin markers. If you do not know the yardage from the fairway, or off the tee it makes it harder to enjoy and not second guess yourself.
Great course
Great layout in great shape. Not for the inexperienced golfer.
A Hidden Gem
After getting a great Hot Deal tee time from Golf Now, made the 90 mi. trip to Elks Run. Second time playing there. Although I have not played well either time, I really like this course. A great test for the average golfer. Very good condition, friendly staff, well run. Will return .
My favorite since moving to the area
I enjoyed the experience and am looking for a tee time this weekend.
Excellent!
Great course with good mix of terrain, challenges etc. Fairways in excellent condition, tee boxes decent (a few marked up but none bone dry or dirt), greens pretty good condition and good challenge. Fun, diverse course to play.
Great Cours to Play!
The Course was in good shape and the service was excellent from the staff.
Tough course from back tees!!!
Pace of play was perfect...3 hours for four of us. Course was in excellent shape. Greens were in very nice shape...could have been a little faster.
Excellent afternoon of golf
Great course. Greens were a little beat up but ran true. Some tough holes. Fairways were great. Beautiful views.
One of the Best
This is by far one of the best layouts in the Cincinnati area and also a great value. First time I played I played Elks Run after hearing so much about it. Will be back many times.
Caddy Shack
I don't know who owns this course but they have a serious problem!
In 35yrs of golfing I never ran into someone playing a stereo on the course. When we said something to workers they know who he is and their response was "he plays here a lot". You could hear the music from one hole to another.
It's really a shame because it is a beautiful course, except we repaired on average 8 ball marks per green.
Beautiful
This course is fantastic. The course was in BEAUTIFUL shape, and the staff was fantastic. This is now a part of my rotation!
Beautiful Course
This was a great track. The front nine was more open than the back, the latter meandering through trees most of the time with a lovely creek that was seen on most holes. Good test of skills based on tees played. Unlike most newer courses, this one isn't lined with homes, in fact, very little civilization can be seen from the course at all. We'll be back.
Elks Run
Tee boxes and fairways were in excellent condition. Rough was not penalizing at all but the heather a little farther off the fairway is a lost ball. The greens were fast and rolled very nicely. The only thing bad was the number of ball marks on the greens. Which is a shame because these greens would be perfect otherwise. FIX YOUR BALL MARKS!!!
Enjoyable, but terribly slow
Overall an enjoyable round. The pace of play was dreadful. Course was in decent shape. Would play again, but certainly not during the same time slot. The pace of play is enough to keep me away from going during peak times.
Great Shape
Elks Run has one of the best layouts of any course in the city. The only question that I repeatedly hear about the course is what condition it is in. The course was in fantastic shape. There were almost no burnt-out spots and the grass and bunkers were in great shape.
Tough, but fun
Elks Run is a challenging, but fun course. Grounds were in great shape, as usual! Pace was good - didn't wait at all.
Elks run
Greens weren't very smooth but overall I liked the course
A true gem
I'll rank this course as one of my new favorites. If you have the chance, play it. Golfnow has allowed me to play a lot of nice courses at a discounted rate and today I felt guilty for getting such a good deal. Park by the cart barn, drive to clubhouse, and enjoy the course. Conditions are superb and the scenery is unreal. I will definitely be back
One of the best
Elks Run is one of my favorite courses in the Cincinnati area. The layout is challenging and views are beautiful. No homes on this course just wildlife. The new owners have improved the course condition substantially.
Good course with great views
Played course on Fathers Day 2014 in the afternoon. Course was in good condition, staff very friendly and accommodating. I played as a single but managed to complete the round in a reasonable time. Greens were in good shape - ball would run off to the back of the green frequently so you have to loft your ball onto the greens where possible. Interesting layout with elevation changes that provide great views of the course.
