Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
Terrible Greens
I know it is fall and I also understand that greens are aerated and dressed this time of year. However these green were absolutely terrible. There was so much sand on them that hitting a true putt was out of the question. They need to let every paying customer know that the greens are near unplayable and prices need to be cut in half. The course is very pretty and the layout is nice but the greens ruined the trip for me.
Nice course for the money
Fun course to play, you plays some holes from the mountains, very cool to watch your ball float in the air for 10 seconds.
Very Nice Course!!
I thought the course was in fantastic shape especially for this time of year. This course has a little bit of everything to it, an a wonderful layout. Would definitely recommend this course to anyone. The cost was great as well.
Outstanding!!!!
Everything about this course was awesome! The layout is challenging and beautiful. The staff was great, the guys cutting the grass kept waving and nodding as they passed by on the course. The course was in excellent shape, despite having six straight days of rain before I played. There is an good mix of open and tight holes. There are great holes for driving as well as the occasional dogleg par 4 that will challenge your bag. There is a good amount of difference between the front and back 9, which is awesome. It really does feel like two very distinct sets of nine holes. I have absolutely zero complaints and nothing but praise for this course. I loved every minute of my experience.
Great course to play for anybody
Went to Elks Run for the second time and really enjoyed it again. Nice layout and course was in good condition, considering all the rain we had recently. Nice fairways and greens and friendly staff. Will be back again to play.
Fun Course
I've played here a few times and always enjoy it. This time there was a foursome in front of us that each had their own cart so their small children could ride along. While their fathers were playing the kids would run around the hole without supervision. This doesn't seem like a place where they should let people bring children if they aren't playing.
worth the drive
Drove over 30 minutes to get here and it was well worth it. Course is on beautiful piece of land, well maintained and great layout. Course is challenging but any level golfer will enjoy it. Facility is well maintained, carts very nice and staff is very friendly. 1 or 2 of the greens had excessive unrepaired ball marks but there was outing earlier that day.
Great course.. i will be back.
Good course for competitive golf
Fairways were tightly mowed and greens were somewhat fast and smooth (est 10 on stemp). Staff was great. Played in less than 4 hrs. They need to have a program for golfers to fix pitch marks and divots. Good course layout.
My Favorite Course
I play at Elks Run regularly and always love it. The layout is excellent and there are some challenging holes, but also some birdie opportunities. The grounds crew are keeping the course in good condition. I also make it my habit to fix my ball marks on the green as well as any others I find. the greens are true and moderately fast, which I like.
Great course
I love this course, but they really could use more yardage markers, great job on the green , pin markers. If you do not know the yardage from the fairway, or off the tee it makes it harder to enjoy and not second guess yourself.
Great course
Great layout in great shape. Not for the inexperienced golfer.
A Hidden Gem
After getting a great Hot Deal tee time from Golf Now, made the 90 mi. trip to Elks Run. Second time playing there. Although I have not played well either time, I really like this course. A great test for the average golfer. Very good condition, friendly staff, well run. Will return .
My favorite since moving to the area
I enjoyed the experience and am looking for a tee time this weekend.
Excellent!
Great course with good mix of terrain, challenges etc. Fairways in excellent condition, tee boxes decent (a few marked up but none bone dry or dirt), greens pretty good condition and good challenge. Fun, diverse course to play.
Great Cours to Play!
The Course was in good shape and the service was excellent from the staff.
Tough course from back tees!!!
Pace of play was perfect...3 hours for four of us. Course was in excellent shape. Greens were in very nice shape...could have been a little faster.
Excellent afternoon of golf
Great course. Greens were a little beat up but ran true. Some tough holes. Fairways were great. Beautiful views.
One of the Best
This is by far one of the best layouts in the Cincinnati area and also a great value. First time I played I played Elks Run after hearing so much about it. Will be back many times.
Caddy Shack
I don't know who owns this course but they have a serious problem!
In 35yrs of golfing I never ran into someone playing a stereo on the course. When we said something to workers they know who he is and their response was "he plays here a lot". You could hear the music from one hole to another.
It's really a shame because it is a beautiful course, except we repaired on average 8 ball marks per green.
Beautiful
This course is fantastic. The course was in BEAUTIFUL shape, and the staff was fantastic. This is now a part of my rotation!
