Elks Run Golf Club
About
Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia was designed by Greg Norman. It sprawls across 163 lush and secluded acres where golfers will be hard-pressed to find a home anywhere close to the course. Norman carefully utilized the natural terrain, incorporating the meandering creek on several holes and also adding a few holes that venture up the side of a hill. Thanks to the dramatic elevation changes, there are some tees where your ball seems to stay in the air forever. The first nine is more open with a traditional links-style layout that then leads to the more densely wooded back nine. In addition to the trees and other natural hazards, there is also an unusually thick first cut of rough as well as tall stands of native grasses.

Elks Run 9th Tee, short but challenging with a view of what is to come. Photo submitted by msparke on 10/25/2012
This course has all the features for a golf challenge
Elks Run is a must play course if you want to experience a course that the pros play. The entire course is Pristine with a very friendly staff. The greens are true and exceptional as you would expect when you see the pros play.
18 bucks @ 10:30am on the weekend ! I love golfnow
one hour frost delay held us up. But that's not there fault. Took me 3 holes to catch up with how fast the greens are right now !
This is a fantastic layout with perfect greens.
Elks Run is one of my favorite golf courses in the Cincinnati area. The layout and scenery is beautiful with nice elevation changes and immaculate greens.
If you haven't played Elks Run, this is a must!
Good overall course
Fun course to play. The front 9 is more like a link style and the back 9 more park like witch needs ball placement to score
Fun unique holes, shared green, stunning views
Greg Norman designed course. Unique shared green looks like a figure 8 with two flag sticks. Favorite hole you drive to the top of a mountain, overlook the whole beautiful course, then have to hit onto the green way, way below. Front 9 plays pretty open like your typical parkland course, back 9 gets challenging, but fun.
great condition
Last Sunday weather was good. I played with my family, So I was very happy. Fairway and green were good more than summer. But Playing time was very very slow.
A good time
Course is in great shape. out in the country, quiet and beautiful. Great value also
Nice course
It's a G Norman design, so it's pretty challenging. Couple of holes are gimmick not so great golf holes.
It was in good condition and thought it was a very good value.
Solid course, slow pace of play.
I enjoy the course. Fairways are forgiving with large but challenging greens. Course weaves into the surrounding hillside. For a Friday, pace of play was atrocious. We walked off after 16 when two groups were waiting on 17 tee and it was already a 5 hour round. They had a Ranger but he obviously didn't do anything to speed things up. Pace is notoriously slow here.
Elks Run
Elks run is a good course tucked away in Batavia OH. With a friendly staff and the discounted price we found on Golfnow it made for a fun afternoon. Some challenging holes and wonderful greens made for a tough but fair round. I think once you play it and get the lay of the land your second round will improve. I'd play again at Elks Creek, of for no other reason it's one of Cincinnati's prettiest courses.
Great Golf Experience!
First Time I played Elks Run, was a great golf experience.
Look forward to playing it again.
This course is absolutely beautiful!
If you are looking for a challenging course that is well cared for and an amazing layout of each hole, you will love Elks Run.
this course has some good features
the course was in good shape the day I played! greens rolling good! one of best courses on east side
this course has way to high of rough
This was the first time playing there. Was really looking forward to it but we played the first three holes and got reprimanded by an old man for driving where we weren't supposed to. Where we were accustomed to playing we stayed away from the greens while in the fairway but in the rough we were able to go farther. The old man got really belligerent with us, so much we almost took our clubs to the car and left....I will never go there again nor will the friend of mine....
Course is starting to get back to how it used to be
Finally this course is starting to look like what it used to be. Tee boxes were a little rough on some but the fairways were great and other than inconsiderate people not repairing ball marks the greens were nice
Very Challenging Course
Played Elks Run with a friend for the second time this year. Greens are much faster than last time and bunkers are better maintained. They are under new ownership and definitely trying to make the course better. Very challenging course, have to hit it straight and keep it out of the rough. Staff was very nice everywhere and they have good deals on Yuengling Beer. Definitely going back again soon.
Great piece of land.....back as a contender!
This course is still the best public layout from the tips in Cincinnati. Now that it is under new ownership I expect the course to get back into perfect shape and again hold some national tournaments. Greens were excellent, but fairways and tee boxes need some work. Not a good course for a handicap over 15 or # balls may be an issue...... with all the heather you can't fake your way around the course. I left this course for about 7 years because it was in turmoil, but it's now back on the list.
Greens putted true and quick.
I enjoyed the round. It appears that some fairways are losing some grass to a fungus or disease. The greens were in great shape and were rolling very true. It appears that they had been rolled and it showed.
Great scenery, poor conditions
If the layout and scenery were all that I was judging then this course would get top marks. Unfortunately it is not. Virtually every tee box was basically sand with no grass. The fairways were hit and miss with grass. The most consistent green space on the course were the greens.
Truthfully I could have even looked past that if it were for the 10 minute wait for every single shot that I wanted to take. There were rangers cruising the course, but they must have even there for show because they took no action for the deliberate slow play.
not worth the money at any price right now.
course had fungus throughout tees, fairways, greens. pond scum on 2 was gross - could almost walk on it. pace of play was awful, rangers weren't successful in speeding up play. No advanced warning conditions were bad. ran sprinklers while we I=were trying to hit shots. Not the Elks Run it can be.
