20 years after my first round at Palm Desert Resort (and a lot grayer) I still enjoyed my round! Photo submitted by salevy on 12/17/2012
Not worth the money
We were pretty excited to play this course, but overall it was not a good course to play. Bunkers had little to no sand in them and was like hitting off of rock. The rough was not maintained well and it was rock hard as well. We played multiple courses this week and all were well maintained. Terra Lago North was in the same price range and much better value. If you can, don’t play this course - pay a little more for a better one or just find a different course. Staff was not friendly either, nor were they receptive to criticism
Good design. Course is in good shape. Greens are very good. Overall a very enjoyable round of golf.
Good course to play.
Our round was lots of fun, and we enjoyed the layout of the course. It was well marked and in good condition.
The only draw back as compared by other courses similarly priced is that the carts do not have gos range finders, which would be very helpful.
Nice but slow
The course was fairly nice, the people, employees were great, friendly and helpful. The pace of play however is so bad. I am sorry but slow play is ruining golf around the country. People do not understand pace etiquette. Stand over the ball way too long, take so many practice swings, don't understand how to function on greens. Move slower than a turtle with arthritis. People need a clock on them, if they violate time limit, pick up your ball and move on to next tee. Marshalls typically are impotent and don't want to offend and so don't really make a difference. Most new or non golfers look for a deal and play in afternoon, which is also when wind blows, which creates a perfect storm of terrible pace, turns into a 5 hour round real fast. People should be required to take a golf etiquette class before playing, in particular on pace of play. Ok, thank you for letting me vent. But it was a nice course, good price, and any golf is good golf. Greens were consistent. I would go back!
Great Day on the Course
This course has been improved substantially in the last few years.. tee to green. Clubhouse. Practice Area. Etc. Enjoyable. As with all other courses in the valley, gets more expensive each year. A Senior Discount would be welcome. Very good how the border fairway areas are not green and it saves a lot of water. Will play here again next year.
East Coast Snow Bird.
fun course
Very playable, not super long. Need to put more sand in the bunkers.
Course in great shape , challenging, a bit slow pace of play
Really enjoyed this course. It was in great shape. There are challenging water holes and steep traps around many greens. Fairways wide and grass in very good condition. No large slopes on greens. The 18th hole is one of the toughest par 4’s we,ve ever played.
No much water available to drink on course🙁
Pace of play could have been improved with a diligent Marshall. .Carts in great shape with good ball wash and club wash.
Overalll one of the best values we’ve found in this area.
Nice track/Starter rude
I've played there many times and have always enjoyed the course, this time was no exception.
However, on the 1st tee, the starter on the tee has no business being there.
I had a 1128 tee time, course was full , all foursomes going out. He sent 3 ladies off at 1120 and when it came to my 1128 tee time there was 5 people with that group, obviously no fivesomes allowed. I paid extra for a solo cart as well. It was obviously apparent that there was 4 men in my group and one of them belonged in the 1120 group with there wives.
The starter told one of the men to get in my cart and another on to take his cart and join the 1120 group.
I told him I paid for a solo cart and he told me "That's life" Of course I told the gentleman in my group I had a reason for paying gor a solo cart and not to put bag on it, teed off and went onto play. This made it extremely awkward for a bit with those guys, even though they more than likely knew what was going on. A starters job is to send people out ...IN ORDER of their tee time, either this man can't read, or he was hooked up ($) for letting these guys play together, either way it made for an uncomfortable round. Did I mention it was 1122 not 1128 when 1st guy for the 1128 tee time teed off, and no tee time announcment was made. Honestly, the players would have done a better job getting the groups off if he just wasn't there. This is unacceptable on a busy course during desert golf season !
