2nd hole, , Blue course, Par3 Photo submitted by Manon1416068 on 12/12/2019
Nice course
Enjoyed my round, greens were in great shape. Not crowded, definitely will play here again.
Course should of been closed
The whole course was saturated. Cart path only in effect except the paths were flooded as well. I guess due to all the renovations the public needs to pay for it. If I could of gotten a rain check I would of.
Greatest value around
While most other area courses are priced $20-30 higher a round for no better conditions Myakka pines is keeping it affordable
Wet course
Well, in light of the 1.5 inches of rain the night before, and Hurrucane Helene 5 days earlier, course probably shouldn't have been open, or I should have canceled my prepaid tee time. Lots of standing water in fairways & rough, over a foot of water in sand cart paths. Greens obviously not cut in over a week, so it was long and slow. However, staff was very friendly. So, I recommend the course, but not after a rain, and staff probably should have recommended against playing, knowing how wet it was.
The course is very wet
Every hole was wet. It was not fun. You were soaking wet after the third hole course was built on a swamp and it seems like it never dries out.
KIDS ARE NOT WELCOME
Booked an afternoon tee time and brought along my wife and two kids. Oldest is 3 and has about 100 rounds under his belt. Youngest is 1-1/2 and she has rode along since week one. Get to the course to see an almost empty parking lot. Maybe two other groups on the course. I’m told in the pro shop that the members do not allow kids or people that are not playing on the course. The lady is kind enough to say we can play but if a member asks you to leave that we must do so. I tell her that’s a little weird but say okay.
We end up getting through 8 holes in about an hour and on the ninth hole, the lady from the pro shop comes out with the cart barn guy to say that a member has complained and we must leave. Meanwhile the closest we got to another group was maybe two holes away and my kids were more behaved than most kids at restaurants.
Overall weird experience and I’d hope this is the only public course like that. I’ve had my family at private clubs and was never treated in this manor. I mean, it’s 4:00PM on a Sunday at a course posting $30 tee times in the most dead time of the season…. You have to be kidding me people! Absolutely pathetic and a disgrace to golf.
It’s a real shame because the course has a fun layout surrounded by nothing but Florida nature.
Wonderful nature course
Using a hot deal and my monthly credit, Myakka Pines was incredibly worth the fees. Not a single house on the course since it is more like playing in a natural reserve or park. Pace of play quick enough since I was playing in the heat of September.
The course is very, very wet
The course was built on a swamp very very wet got done, playing shoes, and clothes, all wet
Love the changes they’re doing
Several improvements to air flow and cart paths. Still need to fill in most of the bunkers on the course - there are some over 75 yards long.
I'm sorry this was your experience Mr. Fizer. I can assure you this is not the case and we love having children at our course.
I think lost in translation was that we are always going to prioritize safety, having 4 people in a cart is not what they are made for. We will work with staff to ensure this is better communicated going forward.
