Blue/Red at Myakka Pines Golf Club

Booked an afternoon tee time and brought along my wife and two kids. Oldest is 3 and has about 100 rounds under his belt. Youngest is 1-1/2 and she has rode along since week one. Get to the course to see an almost empty parking lot. Maybe two other groups on the course. I’m told in the pro shop that the members do not allow kids or people that are not playing on the course. The lady is kind enough to say we can play but if a member asks you to leave that we must do so. I tell her that’s a little weird but say okay.

We end up getting through 8 holes in about an hour and on the ninth hole, the lady from the pro shop comes out with the cart barn guy to say that a member has complained and we must leave. Meanwhile the closest we got to another group was maybe two holes away and my kids were more behaved than most kids at restaurants.

Overall weird experience and I’d hope this is the only public course like that. I’ve had my family at private clubs and was never treated in this manor. I mean, it’s 4:00PM on a Sunday at a course posting $30 tee times in the most dead time of the season…. You have to be kidding me people! Absolutely pathetic and a disgrace to golf.

It’s a real shame because the course has a fun layout surrounded by nothing but Florida nature.

Using a hot deal and my monthly credit, Myakka Pines was incredibly worth the fees. Not a single house on the course since it is more like playing in a natural reserve or park. Pace of play quick enough since I was playing in the heat of September.

The course was built on a swamp very very wet got done, playing shoes, and clothes, all wet

Several improvements to air flow and cart paths. Still need to fill in most of the bunkers on the course - there are some over 75 yards long.

Just want to say thanks for the friendly course staff all around and the food court staff too.

Very friendly staff that wanted us to salvage a golf game on a very soggy course. We had a great time connecting that nature made it wet.

Problems from beginning to end. You can’t take golf cart to car to load up. Have to carry everything to the cart from your car. The greens were rough on blue and white courses like they were just topped off. Pretty plain holes with just straight fairways. No variety. The course was very wet. Had to stay on cart path only. I wish there was a way to get conditions of courses before you book. Since we couldn’t drive cart to car, again we had to carry everything. When we went back to get other items, attendant handed us our cup. We felt like he was in too much hurry to clean cart. We didn’t get to check over cart . We didn’t get one phone. After making it home we realized we needed to make another trip to course to pick it up. We won’t recommend this course to anyone.

Had we known the course conditions from the rain we would never have played. The driving range being closed was an indication of what was to come. We knew it was cart path only but what they did not tell us that there were ponds of water 5-6 inches deep everywhere. We could not walk to some of our balls that were in or just off the fairway. Our ball retrievers were not long enough to use. Water was over our shoes in many places. The traps were filled with water. I was particularly upset the driving range was close as I had a new driver I wanted to checkout. The management offered us nothing for what I considered an unplayable course and a loss of golfballs due to not being able to get to them.

It was cart path only on the day we played. We were playing the 13th hole (white 4) when the cart stopped moving forward and indicated I needed to place it in reverse and back onto the cart path. I was dead center of the cart path adjacent to the #5 tee. I went in reverse about 60 feet and then started forward , the exact same thing happened 3 or 4 more times. I called the pro shop and the person insisted that I had been off the cart path for some time which is why this was happening. She didn’t believe me when I told her I had never strayed from the cart path at all. They sent someone out with a different cart for us and we finished without any other problem. They clearly have issues with either the hardware or the programming of these carts. We were unable to play white 9 and they were directing us to red 9 to finish. This route took the carts directly over a tee on white 9 and the carts ran fine. Overall the course was in ok shape. Some greens had been recently punched. I have played there many times, but this really left a mark.

Played the blue and white nines. The course was very wet due to a rainstorm the night before so it was cartpath only. Greens were slow but appeared to have been punched recently. It's a fun layout that is not overly difficult. Pretty wide landing areas and fairly large receptive greens. You can score here if you hit it fairly straight. Will definitely come back. Super friendly and helpful staff.

This course would have been rated higher had it not been so wet from recent rains. The driving range was closed, and the entire course was cart path only. When it gets that bad, they should just shut it down and credit the golfers their money.

Course was really wet due to rain. Was cart path only so it was hot and humid. Layout is fun, staff is great. Always enjoy playing here.

Staff are ignorant and rude on top of the course being absolute garbage compared to all the other local options. They act like it's a premier course and it is far, far from it. Save your time and money and play elsewhere.

Great staff nice course will definitely play again

Course was in great shape for the summertime in Florida ... Starter was excellent and got us off a little early when we were ready to go ... Greens were in great shape ... Often courses in Florida during the summer months are a little neglected but they have maintained great playing conditions.
