Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Golfer Reviews
Course is well designed
I enjoy this course over palmer. Makes you think to where your hitting your shot. Not just a blast and pray.
The t boxes fit any handicap. This is my go to course for consistent fairways and greens. Definitely a challenge for most of the courses in the valley. Wish the had a nice low twilight rate. having the price so high especially when it a wide open T sheet to me sounds counter-intuitive. staff and starter are great.
Nice day on the links
This course never disappoints , in fact it is one of my favorites in the valley . The course is well maintained . The greens are a little slower than I like , but still firm and true . Bunker maintenance is currently in progress , so stay out of them . The staff is awesome … a big shoot out to the cart girl .. she was incredible . I would highly recommend this course for a relaxing day on the links
Amazing course and staff!
I played with my son and it was an absolute blast! The pro shop was helpful, cart people were great, beverage cart was fantastic with everything from hot dogs to gatorade or anything else you could want alcohol wise. Everyone was helpful and very welcoming!
Fun layout
Decent conditions for the time of year, pace of play was great
Lots and lots of sand traps
Played the Faldo course and it was in great shape for this time of year with the exception of their traps. No sand and like hitting off of a sidewalk.
Wildfire
Beautiful course in great shape, except the bunkers were rock hard. Not sure if this is just summer in Arizona thing but small issue for an overall amazing experience. Greens and fairways were pristine and a fun course with lots of different tees for all levels. Staff was friendly and helpful!
Faldo course very entertaining
Have been playing Faldo for years. It never disappoints. If you’ve never played it, give it a try. Oddly enough, they rarely put the pin near where my ball lands! 😂
Hard to Justify the Cost.
Course was in good shape. Some tight driving holes which I love. The gentleman that waited on me at the pro shop was very rude and ignorant. When I asked if I could get my parking pass validated, his response and tone was unacceptable. Not what you expect for a $250.00 dollar round of golf. Pace of play was terrible. A group of four, two holes ahead clearly didn’t understand proper golf etiquette or pace of play. The Marshall spoke to them multiple times but nothing changed. If anything they got slower, guess he was ill equipped to address the situation correctly which would have been warning first, skip a hole second, and third removal from course. Cart Lady was great and made it to us at least four times which was great. All in all a great course to play, if you can deal with the downsides.
This course was on my list to play. It did not disappoint. Many of the holes were picture perfect. I was surprised to find out it has 108 bunkers. Many courses no longer have sand in the bunkers. While this course had sand in many of the bunkers it was primarily small rock in the fairway bunkers. The greens were in good condition with challenging pin positions. The staff was friendly and all worked to make you feel welcome. This is a course to play but had to wait for cheaper play as it is on the pricier side. Enjoyed the round!
