About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Bunkers with no sand
The grass part of the course is in great shape. The bunkers are really bad. The bunkers are a hard pack with a very thin layer of sand. If you hit into a bunker, play it like a waste area not a bunker shot. Pretty disappointed for a course that has so many bunkers. They look pretty, but definitely a penalty when hitting into them.
Sand bunkers were concrete
If you’ve played the Faldo course, you know there are tons of bunkers on every hole. 108 total bunkers. The sand was the hardest I’ve ever played on. EVER. It was like hardpan dirt. Extremely disappointing especially for a resort course charging $200 for an afternoon round. Absolutely horrible. Until they get this fixed do not spend your hard earned money on this course. They owe me a refund. The pro shop was closed when we finished so couldn’t talk to anyone. Such a shame for a great course layout.
Faldo course
Bring your sand game as the greens are well protected by bunkers. Conditions were very good, greens were a little beat up and no where near the speed of the practice green but enjoyable round on a course you can takes risks or play to safety
Except for one thing, very nice
Great course
Check in is a complete mess. First you park your car. Then walk back to pro shop and then walk back again to parking lot and then to the carts. Terrible design and time waster.
Well maintained
The multitude of sand traps and their positioning make this course difficult for higher handicap or short hitters. ThereI are sometimes no entry to the green other than flying the sand traps.
Great course for mid to low handicaps.
Bunkers
Shouldn't have to wait till a tournament to have soft sand around the greens I understand fairway sands are to be hard but it's ridiculous The amount of sand that is in the sand traps around the greens no issue with having sand traps just the amount of sand in the trap

Difficult but fun course
Lots and lots of sand. Fairways and greens very well defended by sand. Plenty of room in fairways but errant shots likely to go in sand and potentially into desert scrub.lots of sand!
Greens very fast and subtle .
Staff very efficient and friendly. Expensive round $265.
Sucks you have to pay to park (if free the staff failed to communicate this...)
Disappointed for the price
I live in the area so I play golf at different courses. This is my first time to play here. The course is not in good enough condition for the price they are charging. I do feel it be worth that rate if the bunkers had sand , if the greens were in better shape, if there wasn’t dead grass around the greens. Everyone was friendly and it has the potential to be a great course.
