Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
About
Faldo Championship Course at the Wildfire Golf Club measures as long as 6,846 yards, depending on which tees you're shooting from, and lies on 174 acres and features some differences from the average desert-themed golf courses. Faldo offers abundant fairways, big bentgrass greens and tee boxes, as well as the golf course's neighboring mountains, century-old saguaro cacti and 106 sand bunkers - which remind golfers of Aussie sand-belt golf courses, which gives it a magnificent locale for golfers.
Wildfire Golf Club is much-feted: When the Faldo Championship Course opened, the Arizona Republic selected hole No. 2 among the valley's 18 best. The golf course received recognition among the 2006 Travel & Leisure Golf's "World's Best Golf Resorts" for family getaways and in the 2006 Conde Nast Traveler rundown of the "Top 100 Golf Resorts in North America." These are in addition to the Gold Tee Award from Meetings & Conventions Magazine.

Great Day on Faldo
Didn’t play particularly well but was a great day on Faldo. Despite massive green side bunker faces, sand was nice enough.to clear the ones I managed to find. Fairways were in great shape. Greens a bit slow but manageable. Practice area was very nice. Overall great day.
It's not really golf.
Raising the cup above the ground, instead of putting something into the hole, like stryofoam, is a joke. The objective of golf is to put the ball into the hole, not bounce it off an artificial wall around the hole. The next thing we will see are designated hitters, domes over ball fields, artificial turf and moronic mascots.
Awesome day at Wildfire!
This is a top-notch establishment. The staff is friendly, especially the beverage lady (Anna), and helped to get around the facility since it was my first time here. The course is in shape, the greens run true and pretty fast. The only drawback would be the bunkers, which there are well over 100 of them, should have more sand for such a nice course. We played in 3 hrs 15 minutes, which is probably due to the COVID-19 virus, but it was a great flow to the round and I would highly recommend playing Faldo @ Wildfire
Great condition excellent greens, good pace
Forgiving course,, excellent condition, firm bunkers,. Played in exactly 4 hours with 1:35 tee time.
Resort course
This is an actual resort course. It is really at a whole other level above the supposed country club courses. The LPGA was going to have an event there but because of the Corona scare they cancelled. The course was in fantastic shape. There are sand traps everywhere. The greens rolled well. They had a lot of undulation and an odd shape. Quite a few were long and narrow. Most were raised and guarded by unforgiving sand traps.
Fantastic Experience, AGAIN.
Well was grouped up with Wonderful Folks, a couple of "Humboldters" and a member of the club from Toronto, excellent People that really added to the day ! The Faldo course is certainly the Tougher of the 2 courses and tee to green the condition is Good but was surprised with the bunkers (and there are PLENTY) that they are in BRUTAL shape, hardly any real sand in nearly ALL of them !
The green complexes are difficult with plenty of undulation and tiers making them a Chalkenge. The speed was nice & rolled smooth but didn't seem to roll out as much as I've seen inthe past, the fairways in prime shape too.
A shout to Justin and Jacob with 0utSide service for being trully cordial and attentive that certainly makes gettin'2 WildFire GC Golf to look 4ward to -B Well.
Sand traps everywhere
Beautiful layout and excellent condition. You must bring your A game and be able to hit high approach shots to hold these greens. Sand traps galore surrounding every green. Found some traps had little sand so blading a good possibility. GPS equipped carts really helped but miss hit shots usually brings a bogie or worse. Challenging course to say the least.
Nice course the LPGA plays
First time playing here. Not with $100+ in my opinion. Maybe 60-80. Greens were a little slow and lightly sanded. Fairways were nice. Bunkers were bad. Very fine gravel and not deep at all. 1/4” thick and you hit the hardpan dirt. Overall it’s a beautiful course and decent layout. Condition is gonna be rough for the Ladies in 2 weeks unless they ship in new sand. Also we let a 2some and single play through our 4some. Then we got told we need to wait because “members” didn’t want to wait on us. Even though they never were. The members caught us and said they didn’t want to play through. Reaching the turn. The starter chased after us and said we need to pick up the pace. We were 10 min behind. We told him we let a 2 some and single through that’s the 10 min. He said no no no. We don’t let anyone play through here. We were not supposed to do that. We just keep our pace of play and forget who’s behind us. So now only option was to “play fast but don’t rush” he sent a guy to follow us and help clean bunkers and look for balls for us. Anyway. We played normal pace and was just fine. No one waited on us. Very odd for a course to not let singles play through. They shouldn’t let singles on in the first place. Should pair them with someone. Anyway. Management was friendly about it. Just very weird. Never came across anything like that before. I’d recommend this course if you get it for free or on a really good deal. It’s no where near on par with Phoenician Or troon. But I’d say similar to Other Scottsdale courses. McCormick ranch or camelback.
Fantastic
Everything was in excellent condition. They didn’t oversees the rough this year but I think it gave more definition anyway.
Typical AZ Resort desert course
The friendliest staff ever. Got me out early with one(!) other player(former PGA Pro). We zoomed around in 3 hours. Course is in excellent shape. Greens are perfect.
My my! $200 a round and NO bunker sand
Sand is gravelly. More like surrounding desert. Layout of Faldo course could use updating.
Why charge the high price when range is limited and some T's at not accessable so the LPGA players due in 3 weeks can be presented with pristine T boxes. Played blue/white combo and many holes have been shortened be having no access to normal blue or white T's. BOO
Sand Not Even Reasonable
This is a Faldo course that has 108 bunkers. The staff, greens, fairways were very nice. The bunkers were in poor condition with very little sand. This was the case in all nine times are group was in a bunker. The greenside bunkers were the worst. Before the LPGA event in March they will add sand and they should have done some long ago. In this condition not worth the time or money.
HNY!
Greens were fast and fairways were in very good condition! As a local I can play a lot of good courses in the area and I like both Wildfire courses. Course condition at Faldo was fantastic especially as cold and rainy as it has been. Only draw back is some slow play and the greens keeper must have had a bad New Year’s Eve since a few of the pins were set in some nasty positions! Trying to decide if it worth it to play? Do it you’ll be glad you did. Especially using a golf app to save you 40-50%!!
Many times
I played this course countless times this summer and it was in great shape. Always worth the money to play here.
Terrific championship course
This is a class track. Fairways and greens in excellent condition despite recent rain. Must have a good sand base which drains well. Bunkers were firm rather than powdery, probably due to rain yesterday. I prefer them this way. Afternoon time and almost no one on the course, surprisingly. Staff, carts, range balls all great. The range and chipping/putting greens are superb. Tons of space at each spot on the range and perfect turf.
Shot Shaper
This course has an excellent layout. You have to keep your ego in check or be a great shot shaper to go after some of the holes on the course. It's a great course to play at the summer rates. The pace of play will always be fast so you should have no problem finishing within four hours.
